LegComm: Accepted Election Act amendment
#31

The nomenclature for 4.1 and 4.3 are directly contradicting, even factoring 4.2. Sorry, but that annoys me.

My main question is, why are admins deciding who is or isn't a citizen? I get where the VD is involved in the whole citizenship process, but shouldn't admins be there for forum security (Protecting it from any form of malevolent and accidental destruction/vandalism and maintaining things so it works properly? E.G. Masking changes, et al)

I'm unsure of TSP's legal definitions there, but that seems excessive if admins are arbiters of government processes even assuming if some/all are currently in government positions or not.

I've always been for separating admin duties from bleeding into government and divided acts that are from a government position or from an admin position.

What I see with what Hile did, he skirted around the law, not legal nor illegal. Which didn't make it necessarily the right choice to do nor the wrong choice, but I'm more apt to favour what he did being something legally clarified as possible. In the end I agree with TAC on the first page of this thread.

Admins do not decide who is and isn't a citizen. Admins ran the periodic citizenship checks, based on the requirements enshrined in the law. That meant checking who still has a nation, and who has posted at least twice in the previous thirty days. We did that because it was easier for us to simply check and remove citizenship, rather than have the VD forward us a list (overall that would take more time).

Like I have already said, though, admins will no longer be running any checks, since we have no intention of facing the ire of the Assembly every time something goes wrong.

I AM THE LAW!

Wolf, if you are not going to post anything of substance, just refrain from posting at all. Posting senseless memes contributes nothing to the debate.

Actually, I think I just did post something substantial.

You're essentially attempting to take the law into your hands via your Admin power by ignoring laws you don't like and only enforcing laws you do like.

Just like Judge Dredd, you're saying that you are the law.

The Administration Team is not required by law to do activity checks. Wink

Then don't be an admin if you don't want to enforce the laws and would rather snake out of your responsibilities, rather than own up to them.
#39

True. It's more like "if I feel like it" or "when I have the time"

It is not the Admins responsibility. I don't think it's ever been specified who removes citizenship.

No. That's not how this conversation is going.

For too long, the region as passed laws assuming the admins would step in when we didn't think far enough ahead and plan an elected official to do this.

You don't also get to rake the admins over the coals when they didn't get to play magician.
