Citizenship Law Amendment |
Why would we need a 60% threshold for an election? that seems unfair and totally unnecessary. A simply majority should suffice for elected office.

This isn't an election. It's an appointment with a confirmation. These individuals are going to be trusted with handling the entire citizenship process. I would rather not see people being appointed to this body that 49% of the Assembly doesn't approve.

So what percentage are you proposing? Technically the bodies nominating the person already were approved by a high majority so there's that.

As a compromise I could support 60%. I'd prefer either 66% or 75% which was the way the original text was written.

Well let's find a middle number, our numbers are a little all over the place. General corps is 50 + 1, CSS is 75%.
I think that someone elected should be able to nominate someone for approval but whichever number is chosen should be consistent across the board for positions. Again we don't give powers to a certain branch only to allow another to micromanage it and upturn it at every corner. So I think I'm fine with 60%. The current setup has three self-appointed admins and a VD elected by a simple majority.
I just don't see the point in anything more than a simple majority, and given the pettiness that is been displayed in the past, I see plenty of space for engineered crisis.
So Kris if you'll edit out the comments then I'll motion your proposal to vote.

I'm happy to second Escade's proposal that Kris's proposal (with the comment edited) goes to vote.
Now up to vote here.
The assembly portion is unchanged so I did not include that in the amendment text. I should also note this amendment removes the clause prohibiting citizenship processing during elections.
Link leads to an old vote?
