Alas, we try.

Alright, let's assume(not me, it makes an ass out of u and me) that you did support the system. What do you feel is incorrect with it?

I think spying is a relative waste of resources for TSP. It's one thing for TNI to spy on the FRA-- they are not only at war, but TNI is a region dedicated to raiding. We're a GCR. We're not at war with anyone, nor are we dedicated to military gameplay at all. It's an side activity in our region, one that shouldn't cause problems more than it creates fun. Spying is a surefire way to create enemies and scandal, and to get bogged down in a mire of never-ending and pointless wars.

Especially because nobody here, let alone in the SPSF, has experience with NS espionage, it's going to be amateur for a while, meaning there's a very high likelihood of being caught. TNP is pissed because we managed to learn about a discussion in their private Regional Assembly forum. The UDL burned down after a thread from the TNP RA was shared and TNP cried espionage. People are crazy sensitive about this stuff, because it's an easy shot to take.

Wars in NS as a whole are largely pointless. It is indistinguishable from basic R/D. Spying would only be useful if you steal information about raids or defense ops and use that information to sabotage those ops. However, given the cooperative nature of R/D, spying on the jump channels is an easy way for the SPSF to get blacklisted from those channels, which would harm the long-term success of the military. We should be trying to keep all avenues open, and spying would end up closing a lot of them.

The other form of spying involving sabotaging a community itself. In other words, some form of forum destruction. That is out of the question.

In the event that espionage could be useful, I feel that's a decision that should be made by the security orgs of the region on an ad-hoc basis. There's no reason to create a dedicate ministry to it, because once you do that, the people in there will always need to be looking for some kind of intel op to do.

We learned about that because Elu told us, not because someone was snooping.

I would have to be against this.
The problems a spy network would cause if discovered outweighs any benefits we have an established network.

Spying makes no sense for TSP. If anything I think the risks of the spy becoming a double agent is worse than anything that could come from it.

As a democracy our security comes from embracing it, not the building of a security state.

I agree with what Southern Bellz has said here.

What use does TSP have for espionage?

Not getting couped by the Miloists in collaboration with major raider groups?

Don't we have the CSS for that?

As has been demonstrated time and time again it's not a foreign assault that's the threat. Barring an attempt that involves dozens of raiders the only ones with the endo count to pull off a coup is the CSS, VD and Delegate.

We already have the CSS in place for exactly that situation and if we can't trust them then what's the point of having the CSS?

Vague scaremongering over hypothetical raiders hardly justifies the need for full scale espionage. Do we really have tangible threats to TSP or are we just being paranoid? Remember that the main espionage in NS isn't some hidden message monitoring, it's a full infiltration program for which we have a very high risk and minimal payoff for it. But there's no one out there coming to get us (at least not with the means to do so) and we can't stake our reputation on a nonexistent hypothetical risk.

In the history of NS, spies tend to be caught and shamed or tend to go native due to the fact that it takes a long-term or "deep cover" to infiltrate at the level that is useful. This seems more like a RP\fun activity then a "here is a practical use for NS." Then, I don't think we would want to have a "spy agency" on the law books. I mean there's a reason spies are supposed to be clandestine.
