Wiped out by whom, exactly? So far as we know, in the industrial age and before, no one knew about a civilisation residing in my plot. If you'd like to propose a disease, won't the entire continent get it too? And if a civilisation invades us and wipes us all out, what did we do to provoke it? Nothing.

Like I said before: "Who wouldn't tell the entire world that there is a large modernised nation that has been hiding from the entire global civilisation if they actually discovered it in a morning walk? Sorry, but I have to agree with Henn on this one. It's practically impossible for a modern nation, surrounded by other modern nations, to stay unknown for long. I would understand it if this was the Middle Ages, but we're talking about the freaking 20th Century.

*Hammerstar is protected by a non-belligerent great power (like Belgium when attacked by Germany during WW1), or Hammerstar is in a great power's sphere of influence
*An international treaty that establishes that Hammerstar is neutral
*Hammerstar is simply not invaded thanks to Hammerstarian agents providing information (false or not) that such an attempt is futile
