For me, the minimum on this subject is relatively low.

Because the South Pacific is ICly the only land we have in the entire planet. It makes no sense to say Russian originated in Russia, because there is no Russia in Pacifica.

Countries rise and fall throughout the years. It is not impossible to assume that whichever nation originated X language ceased to exist long ago.

Then we can say that a Russia existed in the South Pacific once. Therefore, we have Russian.

Technically yes. But just like you intend to call languages by their RL name, I intend to call them by their IC names.

I'm not sure of where I should post this, but it involves languages, so here it goes. You see, I'm planning to write my country's history, like Kris has been doing with Kringalia, and I've already written the first post. I haven't posted it yet because the first paragraphs have an explanation for the origins of the Austral (English), and Karnetvorian (and Karnetvorian-related) languages, and I wanted to see what you guys thought about it, as some of you are involved (some implied) Anyways, here it is:

The history of the country now called Karnetvor starts approximately 2500 years ago, when the region was first populated. Not much is known about the first inhabitants of the land, besides that they shared a common language, the now called Ancient Russian/Karnetian, from which the modern Karnetvorian, Resentinian and Russian languages originated.

The country's written history starts in the 1st Century CE, when the land became a province of the Austral Empire. The Austral Empire was a powerful state that once controlled more than half of the Western Continent, from the south of present-day Ryccia to Noctenos. It spread its own language, Austral, for all its territories; its modern form would become the standard lingua franca in many parts of the world. It also spread the Latin alphabet, and numerous technological and cultural advances. The territory of present-day Karnetvor was part of the province of Southern Russia (Northern Russia was located in present-day Qvait)
