It isn't really about wether you die or not, or if it's simply up to the roll of a dice, Hammer. Roleplaying is also storytelling, and our story is one that must in the very least have a modicum of logic and congruence.

That is the problem we have here. We just don't know. Before starting any kind of futuristic RP we have to decide on what exact kind of technology level we are working with.

That would be the third one. However, the Modern Warfare series (which takes place from 2011-2016) is exactly that; modern tech, as in present-day tech. All the things shown in those games already exist and are used by RL armies today. I would propose something more like Black Ops 2, with drones, cybernetic warfare, etc.
