General Souls Continues to apply Interregional pressure on the Coalition

Field Marshall and Overseer of Terra Corps of The Black Hawks, General Ever-Wandering Souls, continues to mount a campaign in the Gameplay community for a response to his successfully appealed proscription.

On July 25, the Cabinet led by then Prime Minister Farengeto enacted proscriptions on a number of individuals and the region/organisation Hydra Command (now operating as the The Ragerian Imperium)

In relation to General Souls, the Cabinet charged that among other things, he had conspired and — at the time of the proscription — was conspiring to overthrow the Coalition and ‘cleanse it’.

General Souls submitted an appeal to the High Court on July 27, seeking for the proscription to be struck down.

In a judgement rendered by the High Court on September 13, Chief Justice Kris Kringle wrote that the ‘reasons listed by the Cabinet to account for the proscription of Ever Wandering Souls are not sufficient to justify its continued validity, and therefore the proscription should be overturned.’

During the October 2018 Cabinet Elections, as part of his campaign against the proscription, General Souls released a series of conversation logs in The South Pacific’s Gameplay Embassy.[1]

Notably, in his conversation with the General, then-candidate and now Prime Minister The Serres Republic pledged that his ‘first priority is releasing that statement and fixing that proscription upon being elected.’

The Prime Minister expressed sympathy for General Souls and pledged his support in clearing the General’s record.

‘Speaking as a legislator, not as a cabinet member, I genuinely have disagreed with the way these proscriptions were worded and handled from the onset … I need to handle these final steps discreetly and professionally if I actually want to see your name cleared,’ the Prime Minister wrote, ‘I am behaving this way because I care about the way TSP treats foreigners, Ally and Enemy alike. You were treated unfairly in these proscriptions and it is my goal to fix them. I am here cleaning up the mess of those that came before me. Please understand that I am handling this in the way that is best for you.’

On October 23, after the election result was certified, General Souls sought to once again remind the Gameplay community of the earlier promise by Prime Minister Serres.

Sources close to the Cabinet tell the Herald that it is currently working to formulate a response to General Souls requests for a resolution.

Cabinet announces New Proscriptions

Prime Minister The Serres Republic at a press conference announcing the proscriptions

[Office of the Prime Minister, Fudgetopia Government Centre] October 28

The Cabinet has released a revised list of proscriptions. In keeping with the Proscription Act, the individuals Funkadelia, Lamb Stone/Aleister, Evil Wolf/Killer Kitty, McMannia, and the regions H Y D R A, HYDRA Command, and The Ragerian Imperium have been prohibited from entering The South Pacific or its off-site property.

The new list follows the controversial proscriptions issued by the previous Cabinet under Prime Minister Farengeto. While the reasons provided for the proscriptions of the individuals and regions remained largely the same, Prime Minister The Serres Republic omitted General Ever-Wandering Souls of The Black Hawks. This is in light of the High Court overturnning the previous proscription on grounds that the evidence provided by the then Cabinet were not sufficient as to merit a proscription.

The Prime Minister made it clear that while the General was not to be proscribed, the Cabinet would nevertheless ‘continue to pursue options to make sure that the individual is not able to cause future harm towards the South Pacific.’

This implied future exclusion of General Ever-Wandering Souls from The South Pacific was met with derision by former Chair of the Assembly, Mr. Cormac: ‘In other words, you intend to ignore the spirit of the High Court's decision, and do everything you can to proscribe Souls without proscribing him.’

The omission by the Prime Minister fulfils a personal promise made by him to the General during the recent election campaign, in which he pledged his support in overturning the proscription.

‘Speaking as a legislator, not as a cabinet member, I genuinely have disagreed with the way these proscriptions were worded and handled from the onset’, the Prime Minister wrote, ‘I need to handle these final steps discreetly and professionally if I actually want to see your name cleared.’
