Daily News of Hintonia

It is becoming increasingly clear the rebels can't meet the federals head on, not for lack of manpower but lack of industrial capability. While the northern provinces and the capital, being the first provinces to house the nation, are more industrially developed due to their past, the south remains quite empty besides population centers. The rebels lack much armor or Airforce, and are taking a beating on the naval front. The president's advisors have told him this, and so back at home he is more focusing on recouping the economy from the blow of not having access to the South's rich mineral deposits. More mining prospects are being explored in the relatively unexplored northwest corner of the country. He is also starting to calm down the gearing of military goods in civilian factories, rather focusing on generic goods such as steel milling and electronic construction for use of civilians and military.

Speaking of military, they announced the new RS-16A, a new ranger rifle specialized for the unique climate of the Southwestern hill lands. Rugged with few moving parts and adjustable stock, sights and barrel. This way every rifle can be customized for the needs of the user. Crooked up stock for bigger guys. Tilted stock and scope for left handed people. Adjusted scope specs to fit users wearing glasses and/or night vision goggled. No more bully night vision scopes.

On the Navy front, seeing as the rebels can't do much other than Harry 1 of 2 of Hintonia's fleets, the second fleet has been assigned to protecting shipping. As the economy restarts, it needs specific imports and places to export it'd fine produced goods. The front is stable and no major battles are expected, so in the meantime the economy must adapt to be less resource consuming.

The economy is restarting, somewhat slowly, to fill depleted military orders for munitions and equipment. Although most commercial businesses are still closed, industrial ones have restarted to fund the war. Now, why they would be doing that when it seems this is the time the front has calmed, Noone knows. Some speculate it is to prepare to punch through rebel lines. Others think it is to prepare for a rebel push. But it seems unemployment is dropping, from the previous 8% to around 5%. People seem to be adapting well to not being near each other, as GID cases stutter in number, now a confirmed 4572 cases. While the war threatened to flood the country with disease, it seems to have done the opposite. Although less can be said about the rebellion government. It has recently called out for international humanitarian aid to help it's population deal with GID, and Paulrice recently proposed a ceasefire to see if terms can be knocked out for the South's succession. Markeretik declined. It is estimated a crazy 10,000 cases run rampant in the rebel provinces, lacking the burocracy of the normal government to help quell the disease. Most notably in army camps is where it spreads.

On the naval front, things restarted as the rebel dockyards churned out never seen before Minniete Subarmines. These were maybe a third of the size of a normal dub, and have maybe 40 crew per. This caused a spike in trade ships sunk as the Federals were unprepared to actually make use of their anti sub weaponry. It also sparked a sub war between the sides, with the Federals turning out their proud 300 man nuclear subs versus many Minnietes per. It is yet to be seen how this will end.

Side News: A new political party called the Hintonian Party of Hardworking Workers (HPHW) has formed due to the alt right rebellion of Paulrice. They say that this rebellion is an example of why a strong, government controlled industry is needed. To stop things like this from possibly happening. The president made no comment except saying: 'I ain't no Commie.'

This is a reference to a rebuttal to a witch-hunt trial into Markeretik's actions during his years as a senator for the Capital District. They were concerned that he was too heavy handed in his approach topto government regulation and wanted him un-credible in future voting sessions, so his opponents made a rigged 'Jury of Freedom' made to vilify their enemies. When asked why he'd surpress the free market's rights like that, he just said: 'I ain't no Commie'

The Federals have made a naval invasion behind rebel lines! The Hintonian National Marines (HNM) have made a beachhead in the rebel held town of Lindonport. With the fleet behind them, destroying rebel subs to get them supplies, they've started pushing south and west, to threaten the rebel capital of Valencia. Full reports are unavailable due to the chaotic fighting, but it seems rebels pulled troops from the front and the regular army has forced a full on Air-Land assault. TAE-91's have been flying round the clock bombing ahead and behind rebel positions, making retreat hard for them. The armored corp has started moving in the flanks of every battle they are in as the Regulars pin the rebels. Even with superior numbers and improvised anti tank weapons they are pressed hard, large swathes surrendering. With the war suddenly turning, it seems that there has also been a mutiny from patriotic Hintonian Men who never supported this rebellion, but couldn't say anything for fear of being killed. Rebel numbers are dropping fast, as the newest reports say they are down about 200k men in the last day, around 2/3 of that captured.

The president made a speech today broadcast wideband on public frequencies, renouncing the rebels use of authoritarian tactics to suppress the free will of men and women, calling for those opposed to the rebellion to ride up against 'Them Nazis'.

It seems the federal offensive has been a success, as they've linked up with the HNM unit at Lindonport and made a defensive line from there to their hillfort in the west. Again it looks like both sides look to dig in and wait the next offensive, although the rebels seem to lack high quality equipment, and some even lack that. There have been large scale mutinys and breakouts from civilians and soldiers. Only about half of them ever made it to federal lines. The others were horrifically cut down when discovered by the 'freedom army'. Despite this, some people remain loyal to their local governments under the rebellion than the Federal governemnt and their country.

GID cases are starting to fall, as cases drop 300 from the 4500 to 4200. Noone can even predict how many cases the rebels have, but military observation shows over 30,000 enemy troops showing signs of illness. Many people have recovered, although around a hundred have died. It seems people with certain blood types are more likely to gain immunity to the parasite. This defies all current medical knowledge, as the parasite doesn't affect the blood at all but rather the digestive system. More research is needed. People still don't go outside much except for neccesities, despite the economy recovering from the virus. After all. It isn't completely gone...
