Wait why do the members of the Legislator Committee have access to IPs? Shouldn't the Administration do that?

Think of LegCom as the moderators of the assembly. They take care of approving new legislators etc...

Only the forum admins should have the power to check people's IPs. The less people who can check people's IPs the better.

Yeah, but I still think that IC positions like this one do not need to be able to see people's IP. That power should be revered for the OOC admins. The most I would fell comfortable with would be allowing them to check the IP without being able to see it. Maybe a script that checks it against other IPs (search algorithm) and then a script that tells you if it's a proxy/blacklisted. This way they can check the IP without actually seeing it.

Speaking as a former member, legcom isn't really an IC position. I mean, it connects to the IC part of the game and is appointed by it, but it is essentially a kind of specific junior admin position and people are appointed on that basis of trust. That's one of the reasons why it always takes ages to replace legcomm vacancies.
