The two countries that I am closest to in terms of birth and ethnicity — United States and Philippines — are siding with Russia in authoritarianism. I thought America was going to win the ideological battle between democratic values and authoritarianism and end up bringing true democracy to Russia. Instead, America falls and I, nor many people, saw it coming. Superpowers? America falling, EU falling, Russia rising, China rising. I always had the fear of this happening, but I never thought that day would come.

I don't think this will be as bad as everyone else does, even if it'll be terrible. If his personality allows for it, which I pray it will, Trump could be a delegator at best or a puppet at worst.
I said that Dems were too over-confident and turns out they were. Clinton lost due to a low turn out from her base, because people were sure she had this in the bag. Dems have lost the Presidency, and the GOP have control over both the House and Senate. Then of course there is that spare Supreme Court seat, and no doubt there will be one or two more to add during his term. So the Supreme Court you could argue is now or soon will be under GOP control. The GOP also made gains in Governor races last night, Dems now have total control over just 6 states. All the progress that Dems have made over these last 8 years will now be reversed, everything.
Even if Trump doesn't cause a global catastrophe, his economic polices will destroy the US economy and cause thousands of job loses but then we come onto an issue that was forgotten about so much this election, the environment. With the GOP controlling the government all of Obama's green policies will be revered and you can sure as hell bet that fossil fuels will be given the go ahead. And with America not leading why should other countries bother? The world is fucked no matter what happens due to this election, and it's all because Dems were too confident. But hey on the positive, looks like Dems may finally be able to do well in Mid-Terms! You may also realise that your electoral system is so incredibly fucked up. Four times in history now the winner has lost, meaning that when running for President even if you lose the popular vote there is still a 7% chance that you may win. Guys, give him a chance. The founders gave us a way to remove him if it comes to that. I think he will do good. When this forum gets archived in a few weeks(?), we can revisit this after he has had time to make some policy.

I'm Venezuelan. The "socialist" government of my country really likes insulting the American government and blaming them for every problem there is. Knowing Trump's poor impulse control, that's one of the multiple reasons I didn't want him to win.
There's also the environment thing, his racism against Latinos, the xenophobia... There's also the fact that, as my country is currently a polarized mess on the brink of civil war, I don't want to see America, a country which I admire so much, fall into the same hole. There's another reason: to understand it, I'll tell a story. Maybe you'll find it quite similar to what is going on right now. Almost twenty years ago, my country was in dire straits (not as bad as we are now, of course). Somebody popped up, a political outsider saying he would "fix" the system, that he would help the working classes, and finally bring economic equality. Those working classes, fed up with all the years of being ignored by the politicians in charge, elected him overwhelmingly. That man's name was Hugo Chávez, and look where he got us.

See, if Bernie Sanders won the Democratic nomination, Donald Trump would not be President. You see the anti-Trump protests going on around the country? I've been watching CNN, and these protesters have grievances against Trump for not winning the national popular vote and against Clinton and the Democratic Party for their complacency. It's the second time in this century and modern times that the winner did not win the vote.
