Getting this error a lot today. I have to wait and refresh a bunch of times for it to go away:

Resource Limit Is Reached

The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later.

That's because we're on a server being shared with God knows how many other websites. Sometimes other websites takes up a lot of resources, so access to the server gets disabled until resource usage goes down.

GR — this can't be right. There is no way any host can work off such a presumption.

The site was disabled earlier, and we were directed to this page: https://x10hosting.com/high-resource-usage

"This temporary block has been imposed due to your account exceeding the free hosting account hourly CPU allotment."

I'm querying -why- that happened, as myBB does not take up a lot of memory nor is it particularly CPU intensive (I'd argue a vBulletin, an all together bulkier forum suite (blogs, cms and forum, plus over a dozen addons) takes up more), but my vBulletin takes up 9.53mb of memory for its general operation. (Page generated in 0.12803 seconds with 15 queries. Memory Usage: 9.53 MB)

I have been getting that one a bit, including just now (it is a 508 error I believe, not a 403/503 error). Annoying.

This was a scarier error since the whole website was blocked for a while yesterday night.

The way free hosting works is that we share a server with many other websites. That leads to a lot of resource usage. That's why sometimes our forums are really slow-- other websites are taking up a lot of the server's resources.

There are two ways that this can be dealt with: let websites compete for resources; or put a hard limit on the number of resources used per website. According to this post on the x10 support forums, the resource monitoring system was offline for a long time. But it's online again, which is why we've been getting a lot of resource usage messages. I imagine the one we received last night was simply an updated page, but it's possible they're doing something like "hit the limit X times and your website is disabled until the next hour." (We've hit this limit 133 times so far, according to cPanel.)

Our hard limit is 5 entry processes. That means we can only have 5 scripts/automated tasks running at the same time. I'm not sure how we reached that limit. MyBB has automated tasks, but I don't think those are run as "cron jobs" that would count towards our limit. But somehow we reached 5 entry processes. (We don't get specific logs of anything, so it's impossible for me to tell what triggered these processes.) I've posted in the support forums, and hopefully they'll have logs.

I don't think memory usage is the issue here. Our usage as of posting this is 17mb. You have to take into consideration how many people are using the forum at any given time. But anyways, 17mb is nowhere near our memory limit. We'll never reach our memory limit, unless there's some kind of serious deadly bug introduced in a software update.

Getting a 403 error and a forbidden message when trying to edit the first post in http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/thread-1484.html.

Probably the solution is to wait for it to go away, isn't it? Smile
