Re-establishment of Trust Post the OBT Incident
#11

Hey all, I talked to some wonderful people on IRC about this and edited to only discuss those involved in OBT. Please let me know what you think. As always, explaining things nicely to me works better as I don't always think ahead but if you explain in a calm way I understand much better.

I can't edit the Poll so disregard.

That's not a bad idea. But still, we can't force people to work to get voting rights. That's authoritarian behavior for a region such as TSP. Even Lazarus would disagree.

I mean, one thing we could do is structure the region so that citizens have to join the RA - that sort of tiered approach could allow judgements to be made about the possibility of entryism, with a second option that we don't have now (i.e., citizenship with no RA access).

The thought only came to my head because I got thinking that maybe the issue with citizenship apps was the cabinet only has only one option for securing the region - citizenship. It's kind of a black or white approach.

This seems a little like forced collective work(what communism and/or socialism do), only that is not mandatory, if you are not going to vote.

That's not socialism communism maybe but not socialism. Capitalism is more about forced collective work eg: 0 hours contract, not allowing people benefits until they do 3-4 weeks of unpaid community service.

The voting rights issues aside, your entire idea is depend on four months of active service with am organization who's main body was for a ministry that did virtually nothing for four months.
What do you mean, are you saying the MoRA does nothing?

On this idea, I don't mind it, though it may need to be tweaked a bit.

I am officially ticked.
People involved in this should be allowed a second chance. We gave Milo a second chance, and this gives people who were involved in OBT a chance to get theirs.
If you're all going to shoot this down, you'd better have a good alternate. Denying them citizenship is bullcrap, but I feel that we need to at least have a chance to get the ones who don't care enough to do the work out.

I'm of the opinion that TSP needs someone to blame and take the fall for the rest of the OBT operatives. Once Belschaft (who spearheaded OBT) goes to trial, we should move on.

Given Todd had just as much to do with OBT as Belschaft if not more, I'm not sure why we should fully scapegoat Belschaft. Especially when Todd has done this elsewhere (well, Belschaft had too - in Balder), he was caught running a stacking campaign in TRR - and actually never apologised. TEP ended up passing an executive statement which apologised on behalf of the region, but never Todd - he just said "sorry if I offended someone" reluctantly. And Hobbes claimed he couldn't remember the event because of a head injury.

History is full of people being "fed to the mob" to appease them. The people need someone to blame.

The king says
"let's hang that guy so we can put this behind us"

The people take what they're given and the healing process begins.

Yeah, you know, like a Caste System, complete with second class citizens.

A system that your region, TNP, used for almost a decade. I'm not necessarily in favour of it is as a proposal, but it isn't a crazy idea.
