"... ak de taal tapped, dok de ball, es vaar in Stjernes henter siker!"

Those were the words of Emil Palmann, the Transsunerian President, in an improvised speech to ecstatic fans gathering outside the presidential palace in Niulandsheim. Roughly in Austral, he said: "... I lost my speech, but the ball, it was safe in Stjerne's hands!", referring to goalkeeper Stjerne saving a hard Erinoran shot on goal, meaning the small nation will be in the FWC quarter finals for the first time ever.

Palmann allegedly later joined the celebrations in the capital.

What a win! What a surprise! This tournament has been so much fun so far! We are delighted to have progressed so far. Hopefully we continue in this tournament. The Beepeean fans are alsi enjoying this, perhaps a little too much and have been dancing in the streets following the recent win. Luckily it's all good natured!

The Quarter Finals are over and for the most part they were really exciting to watch. While Bruuma won against Transsuneria quite effortlessly, the matches of the other now-semifinalists were much tighter. TSSS won with an early goal from the 8th minute and through defending well against the selection of Beepee, while Sedunn had to wait 102 minutes for their lead against Erinor. GI-Land and Huawan played almost on the same level. After 90 minutes the game was a 0-0 draw, after 120 minutes a 2-2 draw. In the end it was a torture to watch the penalty shootout as both teams seem to not really have the quality for such a thing. GI-Land had luck one time and really could win the entire match by just one penalty out of five. This only penalty goal of the entire match was scored by Gianni Berg.

Results

GIL-PEH  3-2 (o.p.; 0-0, 1-1, 2-2)
ERI-SED  0-1 (AET; 0-0)
BPE-SSS  0-1
BRM-TRS 3-0

Naturally we are disappointed to lose, but we had fun and lost to a better side. We will be cheering on all the other teams with word and gesture.

(OOC: A bit earlier than normal, because I wouldn't come back to the standard posting time)

Will GI-Land defend its title? Will Sedunn be the everlasting 3rd? These questions can get asked now!
In very exhausting matches the title favourite of Bruuma could score one goal in extra time and GI-Land had a lucky punch in the last 30 minutes also.
We are very excited, who will be 3rd in the Men's competition tomorrow and who will win the entire thing overmorrow and be one of the candidates that could host next year's tournament!

"We played very good in the end and of course we hope to write history as not only being the first team ever winning a TSP-FWC, but also being the first team to win two consecutive FWC titles AND being the first team winning the title in their home country. That would be really awesome and we work towards this goal definitely. For our fans, of course also for us and for GI-Land as a whole"

- Juliusz Szalok (No. 11; ST; GI-Land) about his point of view on the game against Sedunn and his hopes for the Final

"We were all watching the game, there was no busy life happening in GI-Land whatsoever. Everyone was crossing their fingers for GI-Land, got hurt by any Sedunnic sliding tackle, was celebrating whenever we equalised the score or got in front. It was an unique experience, even though it will most likely duplicate and get repeated when the Final is getting played. All our hope is now on our team and that it'll manage to show the world, that our Men are the best"

- A bartender from Lindau about how the game affected daily life

"We congratulate the Men's team for this success already, even if they should lose the final. In the end: The more successful the men are, the more successful the women need to be. We are looking excited at the final and are already looking forward to the Women's FWC, where we want to show that Gianlucian women are just as good or maybe better than our men"

Lena Karanta (Head Coach of the Gianlucian Women's Football Team) about how the performance affects the Women's FWC

No, there is no everlasting 3rd! Sedunn has clearly wanted to be, but in the end it just didn't work well enough. While a good defense helped in the main game, the penalty shootout got lost clearly with 0-2 against TSSS.

"We are proud of what we accomplished so far and we are absolutely determined to win the final. We hope the match with GI will be a good occasion to mend the relationship of our countries in the spirit of the common values of the people, on which all sports are based."
