(4) The Chair may correct typographical errors, grammatical errors, naming or formatting inconsistencies at any time, as long as these corrections do not alter the original intent of the law, following a three day period in which the corrections are presented to the assembly for comments. Any such corrections must be recorded with the legislative history of each law.
(4) The chair may delay...
(5) The chair may freely...
(6) The chair may waive...

Do we really need this? I mean, any legislator can go and correct "typographical errors, grammatical errors, naming or formatting inconsistencies" by proposing it in the assembly, and since the chair needs to present the corrections to the assembly, it effectively means that the chair needs to go through the same process as any other legislator.

Not exactly the same - the legislator's has to go through a vote, while the chair's doesn't, which saves us from half of our votes being on "this needs a comma" Tounge

Wouldn't that be beautiful though? I can totally imagine a legislator proposing to add a comma, then others rallying opposition on how the comma is immoral and completely exploits the intended purpose of our charter, then us trying to make a big deal out of it and giving the issue dramatic names like "comma-gate".

Truly, this is the government we never knew we needed Wink Full support Tounge

Hah, naive person.
The dreaded Semicolon-gate Crisis was much worse. We were moving all the way back to the First World War, arguing over when it was applicable to use a semicolon and have it be grammatically correct. People were going left and right trying to retort our Chair's scandalous use of the comma and semicolon.

also i support the proposal and also second the motion to vote thank you for your time everyone goodbye

Also... I def. a three day period is a vital check, balance and transparency. This can be important for a more collegial relationship between the chair and the assembly.

I agree with Kurnugia and I urge my fellow Legislators to vote against this amendment.

The three-day consultation period is valuable for this body to oversee the activities of the Chair. It may not always be the case that what a Chair considers to be an error is an actual error in the eyes of the majority and it is vital that we are afforded the opportunity to communicate that should it be the case.
