It’s the South Pacific, not The Pacific Pacific.

NationStates spells it as “the South Pacific”, not to mention “The South Pacific” looks like an unreadable monstrosity.

It makes sense to write “The South Pacific” when you’re starting a sentence, but the proper name is still “the South Pacific”.

"the South Pacific" is the proper name as NationStates server refers to the region as such. "The South Pacific" is just a modified name which is produced by the front-end of the site. The original creator of the region decided "the South Pacific" is the name and we should just deal with it. 

Anyway, this debate can be easily settled by adding an article in the Charter about it.
