It's too long. I suggest between 3-5 days of submissions and another 3-5 days for voting.

What's the rush?

I believe we will require some time for the submissions as graphics don't appear out of thin air. Designers will need to follow the brief and go through the development process which takes time – all the more so when RL takes precedence.

I feel like 7 days is entirely appropriate. A voting period need not stretch that long, three days should be fine. What do you think?

Sorry about that. I thought you were talking about the naming (no joke) but if it's about the designs, then I'm all for a full week.

This is what I have so far in regards to a design brief. Your input is welcomed.

In particular, what is the best way to receive these submissions? By email, forum post, telegram, etc?

I am leaning towards requesting that SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) be submitted along with the entries so that we may alter the logos in the future if need be.

At the moment, I am also waiting on the Prime Minister to issue a statement as to whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will allow usage of the NSGP embassy to advertise this competition.

Aim & Objectives

The South Pacific (TSP) seeks a unified design language across its various government bodies. This includes a standard font and colour palette which can be used in posts by the Cabinet, Assembly, High Court, etcetera.

Application & Target Audience

These logos will be applied to all official posts and correspondence issued by their respective authorities. The logos will seek to largely appeal to a domestic audience with regular updates from these authorities. They shall also be used abroad in foreign embassies and in the NationStates Gameplay forum (NSGP).

Design Brief

There are no limits to the number of designs an individual may submit. They may choose to enter one submission or, if they so desire, twenty-eight.

Submissions should:
  • have dimensions of no less than 100 pixels in height and no more than 800 pixels in width;
  • have a transparent background;
  • utilise a readable font (if necessary); and
  • be submitted in both raster and SVG form.
In particular, submissions should one logo each for the following government bodies:
  • The Cabinet
    • Ministry of Regional Affairs
    • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    • Ministry of Military Affairs
  • Delegate
  • Local Council
  • Legislator Committee
  • Chair of the Assembly
  • High Court
  • Council on Regional Security
Entrants are advised to use the following colour codes (provided in the following spoiler) as a guideline for their designs.

Please consult the Charter (constitution of TSP) for information as to the responsibilities of these bodies. Alternatively, entrants may message a government official who will be more than happy to detail their various functions.

All submissions should exclude any material, images, iconography, or symbols that are copyright protected.

Submission

TBA

Eligability

This competition is open to entrants of every region.

Timeline

Submission period: 1-10 March 2019
Voting period: 11-15 March 2019

Prize

The winning entrant shall receive a commendation by TSP's Ministry of Regional Affairs. Should the entrant have an account on TSP's regional forum and/or Discord server, they shall be placed in a special mask for a period of one year as a display of gratitude. In addition, when a currency system is implemented on TSP's regional forum, the entrant will receive a significant payment.

What is the "Office of Assembly Affairs"? I don't believe that's a Charter-defined institution.

I would add that SVGs are requested along with rasters, yes.

I think receiving the submissions via forum post might anathemize the prospect of submitting from some possible (though perhaps unlikely) gameside talent so one of the other two (or more) would probably be better, though sending it via telegram honestly sounds kinda hard, I imagine, though perhaps I just have a dull imagination :p

Thanks Smile

I have changed it to 'Chair of the Assembly' and added rasters and SVGs to the design brief.

Perhaps a link to an Imgur album as an initial entry followed by submission of the full rasters and SVGs upon prior to the announcement of the winner?

Good point. Telegrams could work - just upload your files to Google Drive, then share and link them in the TG.

Either of those should work fine I think ^-^

Should also name the fonts, use fonts that are free, and include a color palette.
