Issue XXXIV

The first quarter of 2021 is already over. We in the TIR headquarters cannot believe that fact either, especially looking at the roleplay activity of our region, which has been a bit lacking recently, albeit fellow roleplayers like @Besern and @”GI-Land” trying out new ideas and the TSP-Wiki slowly coming to life again – unfortunately with quite a few hiccups still, that parts of gameside and the roleplay community both try to slowly fix, so the new wiki hosting site becomes as good as Miraheze.

Recent events in TSPRP

TSP's roleplay has been dominated recently by the continuation of the Gate-RP in Extra-Canon as well as @Illaois and @StoicMetoik beginning to worldbuild in our fantasy canon "Aurora". Additionally @Qwert discussed changes to our unofficial cartography office, in which he would like to see more external support. He gave up his task of being the map manager for Aurora. @GI-Land will replace him there. There will also be major changes to the Pacifica map, including changes to the claiming and editing rules. The due date for all this is between April and June. Discussions are not entirely over yet, so keep an eye on this thread for more information.

Fresh roleplay ideas for the Pacifica canon came from @Besern and @GI-Land both. While the latter tried out another competition format for the region, the "Southern Gate Festival" featuring a film festival and a song competition, which did not have the success he would've envisioned it to have, the former discovers new paths of collaborative roleplay. @Hammerstar and he will build up the first collab-nation of Pacifica, which opens doors to new and old players alike. A more detailed explanation of the project can be found in this thread.
If that is nothing for you, Besern has your back anyway as he also started a classic "daily Besern life" thread just a little earlier.

Breaking News from Pacifica

A few headlines from Pacifica made its way to the editorial office either way, because even in relative silence there will be some birds chirping in the distance.

Besern and Eareamland conduct education reforms in their countries.

After a year of occupation, Hystaiga will finally rise up against Valkyria in the Kalkara War.

Izaakia suspends the referendum on the status of La Montagne (Montacia) and Brödmark (Brodlandia). This leads to a small uproar in the international community, of which at the beginning of April is nothing left of.
However the country decides to schedule a parliamentary election on the 26 March 2021 instead, where they will also elect the first President of the new Republic of Izaakia. Empress Astrid gives up her title and role after her wedding at the beginning of March.
The Liberal Party under Stella Blanc wins the election and thus is the first party, who has an Izaakian president in office.
On another note Izaakia also invests into the future: A new joint venture between "Taiga Electronics" and "The Ice Shark Motor Corp." - "Volt Sceptre Industries" - wants to become one of Pacifica's biggest producers of vehicle batteries.

Phanama does not suspend its referenda. On 17 April and 03rd June the Phanamans will decide on whether they want to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and whether amendments to the "Forest Protection Act" shall be made.

Procus Rega and Proktethia end their war, even though not really to Procus Rega's accords. While King Iannis from Proktethia wants to party, the country decides to have a parliamentary election instead.

Talking about elections, the campaigning for the presidential elections in June in Qaweritoyu are in the hot phase. Every candidate promises to put a new focus on the spending of the federal budget and how to keep the prime ministers in check. In just a few weeks we will see, who seems the most trustworthy to the populace.

The State of the Sector
by StoicMetoik

RP within the sector has been somewhat sluggish as of late. But that doesn’t mean that nothing spicy has happened. On the contrary, quite a few threads have been finished and others continued. So let’s discover what Sector A1-0 has been up to. And where better to start than the OG A1-0 baddies: the Treecuu!

The Treecuu Star Empire, wishing to manifest its dominion in the sector, is looking for directions to expand towards. Their quest has now made them traverse their northern border to whatever may lay beyond it. Expecting to fire some shots to assert Treecuu dominance, they were quite surprised with what they found. The Badlands of Anarchy is in many ways the exact opposite of the Star Empire and certainly when it comes to border control. Where the Treecuu use extensive buoy systems, the pirates and marauders of the Badlands don’t even bother with it. This has left the Treecuu rather confused. Let us hope that they might get some answers to their questions rather soon from the mysterious Godfather.

As mentioned before, the Treecuu are quite fond of their borders. However, for the first time in their history, they met with the mischievous Zeltrex. To intimidate the Zeltrex, a nomadic near-human species, the Treecuu Captain Vaac opened fire upon them. The Zeltrex Mogul Ulidova has other plans for the Treecuu Captain. Plans which the Captain may not have a lot of experience dealing with.

One can hardly talk about the Treecuu and not about their baddie partners, the Stoinians. The martial Stoinian King already showed the entire sector to not challenge him to a duel. In the legendary duel with Emperor Molari, King Andrei ‘the Butcher of Velutaria’ claimed the Empire of Kontaurius. This one planet Empire now transferred to the Stoinian Star Kingdom and all hailed the prowess of their King. What none of them would know, is that it was all the plan from a certain Ernest von Kranowicz, otherwise known as Emperor Molari. This rogue agent from a time even before the Velutarian War is maybe a prime example of what the Stoinian secret service is capable of. Beware of the phantoms…

Together with the Treecuu, the Stoinians wish to explore the sector to achieve dominance together. While on their way to the Drakari Capital, a small squadron has been tasked to initiate first contact with a mysterious nation. To their surprise they found what they easily could describe as a nightmare. A societal synthesis between synthetics and organics. The Great Nullification, the surpassing of synths over organics, had been achieved within the sector. This revelation could not go without a message. Commodore Tuuc, a true shield and sword of the Empire, worked together with Senior Captain Borgström, a veteran from the Velutarian War who has no live for synths whatsoever. As talks with Peacekeeper platform 33-8653-PCKR affirmed the Great Nullification which happened in the Federation of Icn Gaurtath, it became clear there was no interest in this part of the sector except maybe the Drakari. In short, the Treecu and Stoinians did their first joint baddie act by dismembering the robot, kidnapping some organics and destroying the remaining Gaurathi ships. What some may call a war crime, others call a day’s work. Perhaps this might be the true intention of their newly announced Joint Exploration Fleet? Truth be told, we should applaud our newest A1-0 member @2ndBestSynth for engaging in this thrilling RP and the Gaurathi could use some love for a change!

One might think that Stoinians are not good diplomats, but then there’s High Legate Sinclair to prove you wrong. After bonding with his Ryccian aide, Foixon Perushan, he proceeded to help him out. First by smacking ultranationalist journalists and then by making a couch together with him. A couch both their parents were proud of and who knows, this may be the start of the first joint Stoinian-Ryccian corporation. However, the Ryccian press cannot get enough of the ‘Fighting Legate’ and the whole nation watches his interview with Caser Flickerman. Will the Legate make another blunder interview, or has he learned from his previous mistake?

While Sinclair might be a light of hope for peace, the recent discovery of a stable wormhole in the Cornucopia system has brought some serious concerns for the Star Kingdom. They believe they met another Terran nation but looks can be deceiving and the Venterrans are nothing like humans biologically speaking. Nonetheless tension rose quickly as Grand Admiral Corvousier and Fleet Admiral Mayfeld clashed in the Venterran Wako system. Yet unbeknownst to both parties, they were not the first to traverse the wormhole. The Wako Incident remains one of the greatest black pages in Venterran history and is directly linked to the events that forged the Stoinians. Can you figure it out already? If not, do not worry: The escalating war will be sure to reveal the intertwined history of both star nations.

Stoinian history is drenched in blood, but no conflict is as fearfully remembered as the War at Home. The war which forged the Stoinians in fire and made them into what they are today. The Mardakii have no remorse, but as the humans try to mount an attack to repel them, the plans fall apart. The first Stoinian offensive at Landon Hill was a massacre as the Mardakii played with the Stoinians as if they were prey. It is by the sole act of bravery by Sergeant Ahmad Sayed that the Stoinians were able to turn the battle into a pyrrhic victory. How? By charging their bayonets and hope for the best. The warhero Ahmad Sayed first fought at Landon Hill, but it certainly wouldn’t be the last battle he partook in during the War at Home.

All this history and activity can be quite confusing. However, I am trying to make it easier for all. The new timeline of the Universal Index is there to help situate all the events that happen. So do not be afraid to be the next event to be on that list!
Now I hear you say that you do not really know where to start. No worries! I am currently working on an overall guide to Sci-Fi RP for the A1-0 Sector. Here you will (hopefully) learn how to build your nation and what aspects you should focus on. While not fully finished yet, it can help you get started. It also has the final rules for A1-0 approved by the A1-0 community at large and now serves as a pillar and standard for our canon. The future of A1-0 is shining bright as both established and new RPers join the canon. And to be fair, we hope that you will join us in this adventure as well!
