2021 Leaders Debate
#1

“Ladies, Gentlemen, non-specifics and others, i would like to welcome you all to the 2021 leaders debate. Amongst our ranks we have Presidents, Prime ministers, Chancellors, Kings, Queens, Diplomats and Emperors, the great and the good, and the evil and despicable, all here for a single purpose. To get together to agree on a common future, a future that is brighter than the past, and a future where no act of evil can go without scrutiny, and no persecuted people can go without a voice and representation.
In the spirit of international coordination, I would like to invite a representative of the previous occupant of the role of speaker to make the opening speech on how they would see our future. Responses by leaders and representatives are welcome. There will then be a speech by the speaker of the assembly followed by the president of the United States of Izaakia. The floor will then be open to speeches from other heads of state or government.
So, let’s keep this short, start as we mean to go on”
Noor Aqaba, Secretary of the WF Assembly

(OOC: please make clear which speech you are responding too, and don’t worry about not being in the official order, just pop a speech in when you’re ready)
Gianni: “Izaakia, I hate you so much. You’re such a good bad guy. Must be because of your genes“.

Her Excellency, honorable ambassadors,

welcome to the August 2021 World Forum Leader‘s Debate. It’s a pleasure speaking to you here on behalf of the Federal Republic of GI-Land in this high house. You have recently elected a new Speaker of the Assembly and I want to congratulate you on that. While in recent months, the United States of Izaakia were definitely not a nation not stumbling into problems with the international community quite a lot, I am sure, that Mrs. Aqaba will fill her role with good, hard and expansive work on solutions for global issues that need fixing or at least for a framework within which the member nations shall try to correct some bad decisions our nations have taken in the last few decades, that endanger our societies and our planet. For that I wish her best of luck.

The election of an Izaakian official to the position of Speaker also has another potential advantage: We can show to the world, the World Forum is not an assembly of nations solely geared towards the interests of a few, but it’s an organization trying to make the world a better place for everyone. For that, trust is needed. And, Mrs. Aqaba, GI-Land will offer you this trust, however we expect from you that you won’t break it. It has to be said loud and clear, that the case against Izaakia at the International Court over the annexation of the regions of Brödmark and La Montagne will not be forgotten and that we will survey closely, whether any of your officials tries to use their new higher position to stop or hinder the processes of the other WF-organ, and if we come to the conclusion, they do, you will not be Speaker for long.

Putting that aside, we look forward to all the resolutions you want to offer to the world and we hope for productive debates and good decisions to put Pacifica onto a greener, more sustainable and especially peaceful path forward.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of GI-Land

Good day to the assembly. I’d like to thank the minister from GI Land for their graceful trust in me as Speaker of the Assembly, I’m sure it doesn’t come naturally to be so welcoming to representative of somewhere you so wholeheartedly mistrust.
But the trust that this assembly has put in me will not be misplaced. I wholeheartedly agree with Ms Sandornn that this assembly should not be a vehicle to exert power by any nation or group of nations, which is why I shall resign my post as Ambassador to the WF for the United States of Izaakia for the duration of my speakership. With this action I hope to start a tradition of a truly neutral world forum speaker.
This organisation is only strong when it’s members act together, and when one nation, or a group of nations control the direction of this assembly at the expense of other nations this house is divided upon itself.  Only through unity can we heal the wounds of these past few decades. Only in unity can we bring peace to Pacifica, and only in unity can we reverse the damage that we have inflicted on the environment through our neglect.
I have a vision, a vision of what this great organisation can become, a vision of a strong and fair organisation that is empowered and emboldened to carry out its role in this world. An organisation which can end wars, poverty, and discrimination. An organisation that can clean the lakes, the rivers and seas. An organisation that will see no obstacle too large to overcome, and no injustice too small to oppose.
This dream can only come true through unity within this assembly, we must tear down the ideological walls that have held us back this far, and act not through the twisted ideologies that plague national politics, but to act through a belief in the common good. We cannot afford to lose this planet through war or ecological and environmental collapse, for it is the only one we reach that that we can inhabit. A small and fragile blue dot, in the vast darkness of space. Before the next speaker arrives, I would like you to sit, and think about the fragility of our little blue dot, the tiny spec of life in a vast barren desert of space, a small sphere full of excitement, love and tragedy. And I’d like you to think if your governments are acting in a way suitable to protect such a hugely precious and fragile resource.

Thank you

Speaker Noor Aqaba
Speaker of the World Forum Assembly

Honorable delegates,

No man or woman is an island. Wether we like it or not, we are all connected, we face the same global challenges, the same victories. The World Forum is one of these victories, many have put their differences aside to cooperate, together, in an intergovernmental institution, that is an achievement in its own way. Many countries are still not members, to them, I urge that they join this organization, for in our number will we find strength.

Of course, I'd also like to congratulate the delegation of the United States of Izaakia for their election to the position of Speaker. As the first elected delegate from the continent of Keyli, I'm sure you will honour the highest office of the World Forum and I have full confidence in your work.

Of all the matters we could be discussing today, many could be deem worthy of discussion. International peace, poverty, economical crisis, etc. But the topic I believe is of the upmost importance is climate. For it is climate which will force countries to go to war, it is climate which will trigger more poor countries, it is climate which will decimate entire economies in countries.

If we do not act today, against climate change, if we don't enact the tools and solutions to bring our countries to become more sustainable, more resilient, more prepared, we won't have much longer. I believe that the World Forum should act first to try to salvage what can be saved. I call for legislation which will bring true climate change action. Smaller nations like our don't stand a chance if we don't collectively act now.

No man or woman is an island, not even on an island like ours. And soon, we might not have an island like ours.

Thank you.

My fellow leaders, ministers and ambassadors, welcome to a new age. The United States of Izaakia has ascended to the top of the League of Nations. A we have restored the strength of a civilisation as ancient as old as history itself, reuniting a people divided by history. With this great new power comes an even greater responsibility, a responsibility even greater on the eve of a new green revolution that is the only solution to save our planet.
With our ancient history of science and engineering we find ourselves once again leading the forlorn hope into the future. A future that can either be the dismal end of days or a future of prosperity and riches in balance with our most precious treasure, nature. But do not dismay, for we have broken down the fortress walls to Eden. With our cannons of science and technology, we now have the tools to reach this paradise, through Solar, Wind and Nuclear energy we can harness the power of nature, and we can store in vast amounts, either through chemical batteries or through harvesting nature’s batteries of gravitational potential energy and hydroelectricity. But we cannot storm into this future on our own, we may lead this foray into the unknown, but we cannot do this without you. Which is why we are committing here today 1.2% of our annual GDP to foreign aid directly aimed at sustainability.
This is an investment, and investment to save money in the future, for if we do not invest now we will pay the price in natural disasters, famines and droughts. I encourage nations to similarly invest this much in themselves, and for richer nations to follow our lead and provide aid to developing nations, to ensure they develop in a green and sustainable way.
But, as an Izaakian, I am not solely focused on technology and science, we are also connected strongly with nature and the seas. Two resources we cannot live without, we must protect biodiversity and the endangered species of the sea. I recently read a research paper that found an average whale has the impact of $2 million worth of carbon sequestration, a value that should be calculated when nations hunt these animals and when we pollute the oceans with plastic and fishermen’s nets that entrap these majestic animals. Which is why we will wholeheartedly support the manifesto of the speaker on the oceans.
But our new found power is not just a responsibility to save the environment, it is also a responsibility to peace and democracy, and I very much intend to lead this nation and this region into a new era of Pax Izaakia. In this new era we will use our resources to support democracy and remove tyrants, we will never back down from an injustice and we will never surrender to the will of extremists and terrorists. But in this era of Pax Izaakia we will need the support of the World Forum, of all the members of this great assembly to support our agenda of justice and democracy, for without you there can never be peace. This great organisation has forgotten it has the the ability to stop wars and free people from injustice, and I for one hope it remembers it has this ability.
But just as important as peace and security is enforcing our rights, wether they are our rights on the high seas, or our rights in space. Which is why we will support new legislation to clarify and enforce the international rule based order. For without law and order there will be tensions and conflict.

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for your time.

President of the United States of Izaakia

Colleagues,

First I would like to congratulate Noor Aqaba and the USI on winning the speakership. The WF was never meant to be an exclusive gathering of like-minded nations. Here we come together to solve problems, because we want to and see the need to. That is the WF spirit. However, Sedunn will stay vigilant, with current ongoing processes against the USI in mind.

If this speakership period works out just as great as it could, it is my sincere hope that other nations around the world still hesitant to join due to political differences, will see that they too are welcome.

I would now like to respond to President Dr Stella Blanc's speech. I will acknowledge that the annexations of Montacia and Brodlancia were a cunning feat, worthy the recognition of writers of alternative military strategy.

"Pax Izaakia". Let us analyse this new term. President Dr Stella Blanc boldly claims that there was a Pacifica before the foundation of the USI, and a new Pacifica after. But what has changed really? Two nations lost their independence, which has empowered a third nation. This we have seen before. It is yet another assault on international law, causing international unrest.

"Pax Izaakia". I call it an overestimation. And not a mild one.

Mr. Speaker, fellow delegates, ladies and gentlemen,

It is easy to speak in platitudes at a venue such as this: the sanctity of this intergovernmental forum, the virtues of international cooperation, the hope for peace and security. It is easy to speak of such platitudes because they are familiar, enshrined into the hallowed words of our charter. These are not just words — they are actions. I am proud to say that Esfalsa is a member of an organization that has, among many other endeavors, protected cultural landmarks, tackled tuberculosis, and coordinated anti-crime efforts internationally.

These are not trifling accomplishments, and they represent the full potential of the World Forum, as a forum for collaboration rather than competition, for details rather than generalities, and for resolutions rather than speeches. As we look toward the future, we can not afford to only build our perfect tomorrow in our minds. Instead, we must take action to build it in the real world.

Recent discussions at this Forum have focused on the accession, and perhaps condemnation, of member states. But for all our efforts to ensure that the Forum remains open to all nations from across Pacifica interested in a collaborative framework of global governance, the membership of this Forum cannot be our ultimate goal. We must, instead, identify policies to pursue and problems to solve. We must return to the spirit of not merely global discussions, but global actions. We must enact resolutions instead of simply debating which nations should or should not have the right to do so. That is true for Esfalsa as well. I am confident that these issues arise not from a lack of determination to forge a better Pacifica, but from a lack of direction.

In Esfalsa, we have a saying: fine words grind no flour. Fine flour comes not from fine words, but rather from actions — even rough actions. As the nations of Pacifica, let us carry that spirit of action now, and into the future.

Thank you very much.
