[IC] Pacivision Song Contest 2022 |
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE
- Allocation Draw -
It is the 13th February 2022. One day before Valentine’s Day, several journalists were gathered in Gralois’ city hall and waited for something to happen. To be precise, they waited for someone to come in, namely the mayor of Gralois, Arneslo Valpelez, and the heads of PEB, Paro Ytti, and the Ikoanian TV-network IATB, Opan Avarez. The invitations said, that the event would start at 11 am, but it was already 11:15 am and nobody really knew what was causing the delay. You saw some representatives from Sedunn and Sallodesia shifting in their seat in the background, but eventually a double door on the opposite site of the room was opened and all three of the awaited persons came in. Ytti and Avarez were sitting down on the side first. Tables were in front of them, on which laid a piece of paper with a table on it. The table contained all registered participants for the Pacivision Song Contest 2022 on the left side and on the right an empty column. Valpelez went to a lectern and looked at the crowd of press workers with his typical stern look. “Welcome ladies and gentlemen and apologies for the delay. There were problems with traffic in the inner city”, he explained while looking disapprovingly at Ytti. Indeed, the PEB chief has been too late, because he planned his trip from the airport to the city hall very tightly and, as expected, it didn’t add up. “But now we are here and look forward to the following event. As you might know, Gralois was chosen to venue the next Pacivision Song Contest. Today’s meeting will show us, in which running-order the countries that registered for this contest, will participate. Mr. Ytti will tell you more about it in a minute. I would like to just give you some general information on Gralois’ role with this contest. I am pleased to announce, that we have taken all necessary measures to guarantee the utmost security and best traffic conditions for this competition, while also keeping this thing under budget. We have planned with expenses that go beyond 10 million TSP-$, but we will barely spend 7 million. This gives us more wiggle room for other projects of this city, e.g. the ‘Beautiful Flowers Fund’, which has made and still makes the parks and public gardens of Gralois one of the nicest looking tourist destinations in all of Ikoania.” Mr. Valpelez was going on more about minor details on how Gralois plans to make the PSC in its city a success. This included shuttle services to the venue for all artists and spectators, plans of a local investor for a new hotel being built near the Century Arena and the close cooperation between the city of Gralois with other Ikoanian cities and municipalities for the shooting of the postcards. After 15 minutes, he eventually set the stage for Paro Ytti, who explained how the running-order will be decided. “It’s as easy as taking a country out of the left bowl and then taking a starting position out of the right bowl. However first, Ikoania will be allowed to freely select their starting position before all this is done. We have already prepared something for that of course…” Ytti went behind the aforementioned bowls and after some rummaging around held up a single piece of paper: “As you all can see, I’m holding up a paper with ‘Ikoania’ written on it. Please pay attention to how the designers at IATB were making sure, the design for this year’s contest is also on those paper strips.” Indeed it was. The strips were dark blue, little dots of white were all over the place, in the middle the name of the country was written bold in a light grey. On the back not visible to the audience, one would see the official logo of the contest with the satellite. “Now let’s see, what position they chose to start in…” After some more rummaging, Ytti was eventually holding up another paper strip with a “10” written on it. “Position no. 10, so quite late in the evening. We will see, if that leads to more or less points on the 28th. By the way, I’m sure you are all interested in who will present the competition to you. Three wonderful moderators, I can tell you. Next to Polla Altez, who sadly cannot be present today, I may present to you Estella Calvelez and Marco Zarez as your hosts. And here they are for their first official task: Allocating the rest of the countries. Big applause, please.” Although hesitantly, the journalists were indeed applauding while the doors were opened again with Estrella and Marco coming inside. After a quick “And here we are. I think, we should just get this thing rolling quickly, it has been enough of the suspense, right?” by Estrella, both were drawing and reading out, who will start on which position in the PSC final later this month. “Transsuneria!” – “No. 1!” “Besern!” – “No. 3!” “Sedunn!” – “No. 7!” “Esfalsa!” – “No. 8!” “Izaakia!” – “No. 4!” “Arnchow!” – “No. 11!” “GI-Land!” – “No. 6!” “Frost Empire!” – “No. 2!” “Snolland!” – “No. 9!” “And last, but not least…Beepee!” – “They should be No. 5 and….Yes, they are!” “With that the running-order is decided. Could someone from over there…”, Marco was motioning towards the tables, “…read out the order again, just to make sure everything was copied correctly?”, the co-host Zarez asked. “Of course everything will be correctly-shmorrectly here, Marco”, Opan Avarez answered before reading out the running-order again: “First is Transsuneria, followed by the Frost Empire, Beepee, Izaakia, Besern, GI-Land, Sedunn, Esfalsa, Snolland, us – Ikoania and lastly Arnchow. I will not lie, I heard some of the entries already together with Mr. Ytti and: It will be hard.” Before Marco could take over again, Opan had to add “That’s what she said” and a good laugh, that was met with another disapproving look of the Graloisian mayor. “Right…”, Estrella was trying to defuse the situation. “With that the allocation draw of this year’s Pacivision Song Contest is over. We all thank you for coming here and look forward to the event.”

9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 As the show goes live on 21:00 (UTC+2), the crowd in the Century Arena, all together countdown for the biggest music event in Pacifica. The stage turns black as the opening is about to play...
Dun dun, dundundun. Dun Duuuuuunnnn. Dun Dun, Dun Dun, Dun Dun. Dun Duuuuuuunnnnnn. A girl was playing in the playground as she looked at her friends. A montage of the city. At the National Theatre, the two women are dancing to classical music played by an orchestra, a serenade of a tragedy. Then the scene changes. The two women are now dancing in the streets near the beach, now to a fun and fast tempo tango. The wind blows, bringing the smell of Ikoanian Seafood delight. Now, on a fishing boat. We see the fishermen getting a catch from the bountiful Sea of Lumier. (a.k.a. the Sea of Ascensios) We see the Hegy (Mountain) Communities, A man looking out from his house to breathe in some fresh air before he goes to work on the farm. Going back into the inner city we see some skyscrapers, roads, and the lesser Three Middle Joint-Monument, a cultural tourist hotspot. Now the girl is walking through the city with her friends, stopping at the Gralois Space Museum. Giving a ticket to the ticket collector. She sees a satellite model before walking in. Walking and playing with her friends. The last exhibit is about solar panels and the importance of green energy. As the sun came down she thought about what saw today with light in her eyes. She will "reach for the stars". As everyone looks into the sky, a bright one shines above all. Above Pacifica. As we see ourselves shoot into space, ending near a satellite. Beams of light shine from all of Pacifica. We see the satellite sending a signal to the Arena, the crowd cheered again... as an instrumental starts to play.

Postcard: Port Fortelo, Miened
An almost scruffy looking man (singer Frank Beker) hurries down a picturesque quay in Port Fortelo. There's longing in his gaze as he looks around. Under a colourful umbrella he spots his friends (his band De Sinnerer), who are happy to see him, and they invite him to share some ice cream. Frank Beker stands alone on the stage. The screen behind him lights up and shows the exterior of a building. It is night. Just as the music starts, the silhouette of a woman moves behind light curtains. The artist looks troubled. He starts singing. Quote:My heart is screaming out your name He now gestures passionately. The woman on the screen stands still by the window like she is listening. Quote:[Refrain] The woman in the window moves away slowly, leaving Frank Beker frustrated. Quote:Tonight I won't be alone, doesn't mean that I'm not lonely The woman again appears behind the curtains. Quote:[Refrain] The woman in the window moves away slowly, leaving Frank Beker frustrated again. Quote:Every time you're not around The woman is back. Quote:[Refrain] As the music fades, the woman leaves. Frank Beker looks sad. But the audience starts cheering and there's applause and he drops the acting and smiles proudly. "Thank you Pacifica!"
Presidential Museum, Gralois
As the light dims to allow the Transsunerian band to exit the stage, the screen transitions to display a young woman (Mei Natsukawa) standing on the steps of the Presidential museum as if she were expecting someone. Heiji Kawamatsu: My fellow Imperial Frost citizens and regional friends, that was a fine opener by the Transsunerians, but the next act is coming up. Our song "Tears Flow Endlessly", by Mei Natsukawa. Ms. Natsukawa's partner, Kevin "Kay" Shinano was supposed to join her in a duet. However, Mr. Shinano unfortunately fell ill shortly before the start of Pacivision and staff were unable to fix the graphic due to the timing of his illness. Rimi Harukawa: We hope Mr. Shinano has a speedy recovery and apologize to the staff of Pacivision on behalf of the Frost Empire for the inconvenience. Nonetheless this is a very exciting time for the Frost Empire and for the region to see Ms. Natsukawa on stage. Mei Natsukawa ruefully smiles as she appears to remember something before turning and stepping into the Presidential museum alone. As the door of the Presidential museum closes the lights begin to turn back on illuminating Mei Natsukawa, who stands alone on stage with a shamisen.
The screen transitions away from the Presidential museum to an unopen album as she closes her eyes briefly takes a moment of silence. She then opens her eyes and bows to the audience and starts to play. Song: Nada Sou Sou Quote: Mei Natsukawa closes her eyes and takes a deep breath Quote: Mei Natsukawa gestures to the screen above with her instrument as it transitions to show the photos of smiling Reizeners and Frosts. Quote:I pray to the first star of the night
The album on screen gradually flips the pages to images of other people embracing for a kiss, laughing and shaking hands
Quote:In sorrow, in joy Mei Natsukawa looks somber as the screen above transitions to show soldiers looking longingly at photos of their loved ones (The nationality of the men remain undetermined, but mixed in the photos were those of Frost and Reizen troops taken during the Reizen Civil War) Quote:refrain: As the music fades Mei Natsukawa looks wistfully towards the audience as though she were looking for the one in her heart. As the audience starts cheering, she takes a deep bow. "It's been an honor to perform for Pacifica Thank You!"
Just call me Frost
Roleplayer, Former member of the Pool of Justices King of the Hill As Mei Natsukawa from the Frost Empire leaves the stage the lights dim once more. A Postcard For Beepee A short video plays Teddy Behr, this year's Beepeean representative is shown walking through the leafy Town centre of Gralois, Ikoania!. He walks through the narrow streets and Lane ways. People wave as he walks past, he looks up squinting at the cloudless blue sky... eventually he reaches a letterbox. He looks at the postcard he is carrying which says "Greetings From Ikonia". He smiles and drops the card in the slot. Melodie - Julian Reim - Euphorie The lighting in the auditorium slowly raises and Teddy is shown in a single spotlight centre stage. Quote:Oh, walking by your room tonight Still framed by only the spotlight, with the rest of the stage in darkness, Teddy begins to jaunty dance on the spot to the beat of the music as he sings the chorus. Quote:If you feel what I'm feeling Teddy begins to move across the stage. As he does, spotlights begin to highlight dancers who he meets as he's walking around the stage. Quote:Dancing through a summer storm As he meets the backing dancers, they begin to follow Teddy Behr around the stage in almost a conga line procession dancing the same jaunty dance as Teddy. Quote:If you feel what I'm feeling Teddy and his backing dancers are now lined up along the front of the stage, dancing to the beat of the music as the auditorium lights sparkle around them. Quote:If you feel what I'm feeling Quote:Let it shine, let it shine, on you With a break in the beat, the backing dancers fade to the rear of the stage and are hidden as the rear of the stage goes dark. Teddy stops dancing and looks longing out over the auditorium. Quote:Hey, I can feel Slowly the beat of the music returns after the slow.down section of the song and Teddy begins slowly joining in dancing once again. Quote:If you feel what I'm feeling As the beat get stronger the backing dancers rush to form a line again at the front of the stage, they're all doing the choreographed routine along with Teddy. Quote:If you feel what I'm feeling As the song continues, Teddy and his backing dancers appear to be having fun despite the pressure of the competition. But after all, Teddy does have some experience in singing competitons. Quote:Oh-woah, If you feel what I'm feeling Quote:Come along, come along with me Quote:Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine As the song ends, Teddy and his backing dancers finish their routine and bow respectfully towards the audience. Thanking them, before smiling and waving and walking off stage. Unsure as to what they've just seen from the Beepeean Delegation, the audience politely claps as they wait for the next perofrmance.

Formes Point A young woman in her early 20s is strolling on a dyke, while a drone camera is quickly moving towards her. On television it looks like the camera would zoom in. She is wearing an orange pullover and a blue rain coat. Stopping at the end of the dyke to look over the blue Mediterranean with her equally as blue eyes, she seems to ponder what to do next. She decides to walk down from the embankment towards the beach, her movements looking a little like dancing. When she arrived on the sand, she looks into the camera with her "signature look"... ...before the satellite solar panels suddenly arrive from the background and we're back in the almost pitch-black arena. Exactly when the melody and humming starts, the stage background screens are fully tinted in a dark blue, similar to dried up ink of a pen. The singer, Frauke Westra, is standing way back on the stage looking onto her feet. She's wearing a black croptop, which makes her tummy visible, and a pair of black leather pants. Her curly golden red hair is worn open by her. One very striking detail (OOC: not visible in the photo below, but in the video at ca. 2:22 min) are her bright red eyelids and lips, that set themselves apart from the rest of her face. Now she suddenly looks up and sings her first lines of text. Every few words, fitting to the beat, she takes one to two steps forward. Along with those beats, the background screen lets white lines appear, that move slightly up and down like in a heart monitor. Quote:Zeven dagen maandag, achter elkaar aan Four men in a black full-bodysuit come from nowhere on the stage from the right and the left of Frauke. She looks at those left of her and starts moving her left arm in an "ecstatic snipping" kind of way to the beat provided by the stripped back bass. The lines in the background move more and also seem to become broader. Quote:Ik weet niet wat ik moet zeggen, ik weet niet wat ik moet doen The male dancers dressed in bodysuits move towards her and start a mix out of dancing with her and pushing her around between each other, while Frauke's backing track hums in the background. One can see a sun slowly rising from the bottom of he background screen. In the following verse, she walks all across the stage, while having a thoughtful look on her face. Her head and hands gesticulate, whenever she wants to stress a line of text or rhythmic change. Quote:Droomde nog in kleur, het leven was stabiel, maar In the final "humming section" she is pushed by the dancers again, but only twice. Then she makes one, two pirouettes to get out of the mess and walks smiling towards the audience (and the main camera), giving a few high fives to the audience, before eventually laying down on stage on the last beat. The screens all around her are now in a very bright yellow, as you would see it when looking into the sun. The crowd cheers for her and she puts the mic near her mouth to mumble a "Thank you....thanks" into it. Then the next postcard is starting to roll...
