I'm not sure there is anything we can do. Those nations are going non-existent whether we like it or not. They are vanishing, and so are their people, I mean, what if someone else claims their empty plots? All that has transpired would basically be non-canon.

Non-interventon. Intervening would just mean a prolonged conflict in a place where a majority of the population does not like you at all.

You know, this question of continuity is really tough to answer. Maybe we can say that they're still there, but entered isolation.

And let all that history go to waste? Make it another continuity? No. We can't keep dropping non-canons and Alternate universes left and right all the time. It just creates a waste of time and possibly glasses over some really good stories.
As we've seen, both nations have fallen to anarchy. ICly , how long would it have been until "Patriotic Sporaltryans" nuked Theron, or "Rouge Ryccian Troops" nuked South Sea? Yes, I understand that neither Henn nor Ryccia would actually do that, but, from Resentine's and other countries perspectives, it was a viable threat. Were our countries just supposed to stand silently and wait until the rockets were above our cities before we took action? Both nations are in turmoil and can no longer be held accountable, so We decided to remove the most dangerous variable from the equation. We can handle invasions and bombings, we can handle rouge leaders, but, we cannot handle the use of nuclear weapons. So we chose option 2.

Metagaming.
Still, possible diplomacy would have been better than starting off with a full scale invasion.

1.) Resentine doesn't negotiate with Terrorists
2.) I deliberately didn't negotiate with anyone as not to pick sides(AKA, not involving myself in domestic affairs)
3.) Have no fear, with any luck, bribing your faction leaders will more than likely come later(Just like the US plans if North Korea imploded)
