Sedunn Today Sedunnic news in English | SVGH Media Group Ancient and Modern This is a series about the Sedunnic Armed Forces, the people serving and their diverse stories. Today it's the history of the 1st Lifeguard Brigade (1. Sutivleted, SL1) and the fresh recruits. Company, forward march! The marching of company Rye is loud, but not yet entirely synced. It's the second day of the young recruits' eleven-month long mandatory service, followed by a voluntary six-year employment at SL1. After some loud shouting, a drinking pause of two minutes (!) is ordered, giving us a chance to speak with some of the privates. Private Butre agrees to tell us about his experience so far while zipping on his grey water bottle. - Ten minutes, besides some eating and sleeping, it's all the pauses so far combined. We have a lot to learn, as we are constantly being told. We have to learn to walk, to eat, to sleep and to go to the toilet anew. I like it so far. Private Olinnjen skips drinking water and comes directly to speak with us. -It's not at all like in the old movies, with all the harsh treatment. Our commanders are very professional and fair. I'm borne and raised in Grovne, so serving in SL1 was my first choice. A couple of seconds remain of the brake and the recruits start to fall in ranks. -Why didn't you drink? Haven't we told you to always drink some when you've got the chance? A sergeant looks angrily at Olinnjen. -I, I..., I forgot, falters the private. -Remember, your combat ability will decrease if you do not get enough water. Always drink when you get the chance. Rye company marches away to receive their assault rifles for the first time. They have a lot to learn ahead. The history of SL1 starts with the second king (Poljier) in the 3rd century. When he founded a new palace in central Grovne (today Grovne central Station), he needed soldiers to guard it from raiders from the sea. The gurds numbers increased over the years, and in the late 17th century it was a full regiment, and the main task for it was no longer to guard the palace, but high-risk offensive break-through manoeuvres on the battlefield. King Hutyes III decided that his personal regiment should be formed, trained and look more like Western European counterparts, although the army at that time did not differ very much from modern western regarding tactics. Their new uniforms looked very similar to European. In early 20th century the regiment was reorganized into an infantry brigade, and in the 60's it became the first urban warfare brigade. Today it is one of only two remaining "infantry only" brigades (SL2 is located in Flered). SL1 is a part of the standing army, while SL2 is a mobilisation unit. We ask the brigade's commander what the brigade does today. -1. Sutivleted fields a total of 5300 soldiers, specialized in urban warfare. They protect vital institutions such as the parliament for example. They create and defend deployment zones for other units, which may be anti-air batteries, fuel depots or the embarkation of relief forces. They know Grovne in and out, but may of course be used in any urban area. We are confident we can handle anything, says Brigadier general Kuirrt When we ask about the supposed secret tunnels, sniper floors in the sky scrapers and hidden anti-air missiles in air vents, he only smiles and says "No comment". Palido Domingo Airport reopens in Danjer Cove as the pacified Puerto Pollo starts rebuilding its tourism sector
The only airport of the island country of Puerto Pollo, located in the capital Danjer Cove, has reopened to civil traffic after being evacuated by the Bruuman Airforce, who used it as a military airport for the last six month.
Puerto Pollo is now largely pacified and is trying to rebuild its tourism business, which collapsed when the civil war started in 2012. The tropical island country boast sunny weather all year round, miles of sand beaches and incontaminated sea waters, full of marine fauna. New hotels and resorts are being built or restored to accomodate visitors, and a sparkling nightlife take place in the streets of the capital. The island was torn by a civil war that raged from 2012 until March of this year, when Bruuma invaded the island in support of the Pollos Endemoniados Revolucionarios, the turning it in a Protectorate. The only airport of the island was occupied by the Airforce, who stationed there attack helicopters and transport planes. This summer, the only way to access the island was by boat.
Bruuma still mantains a strong contingent in Puerto Pollo, but is reorganizing its presence to help the country relaunch its economy and has moved its Airforce base to a small military airport built this summer in the interior jungle.

The satellite will be used by the public mobile network operator, and was built with the help of Chinese engineers.
Bruuma has an oustanding record in the education field and thus posses a much valid scientific personell, despite their bizzare intermingling with traditional magic practices. Oppostion members in exile accused the satellite of being a disguise for a magical enhancer tool, although they could provide no proof. That said, the VPRB has one of the worst record in the South Pacific for human rights and political freedom and it appears plausible that the satellite will be used to increase control over the population.

Today it was rumoured that Sedunn Today will have its name changed to Jilue International or Jilue Reach. Jilue is the largest nation wide newspaper and also part of SVGH Media Group. No official comments have been made yet, but it is believed that the name change aims to strengthen the brand and to reach further out to foreign readers. It is also rumoured that a new language version will be launched next year. The question is in what language it will be printed. Vastraenn Population Breaking the 200.000 Barrier The population of Vastraenn Colony has been growing slowly but steadily since mid 19th century. Half of the increase is estimated to be natural growth, while the rest is immigration, mainly from mainland Sedunn. Next year the population will exceed 200.000, to celebrate this historical event, a series of activities and festivities is planned. There will be a cake party and a parade in the county capital Sraved, free public transportation the whole year (which also is a part of the KON Environment Project) and the Sedunnic Cup finals will be played in the new stadium outside Sraved. Transport Ship Collision Two container ships collided at low speed this morning in Flered harbour. There were fortunately no severe injuries and only light hull damage in the bows. One of the captains was arrested for a suspected high level of alcohol. After a four-hour delay all normal harbour operations resumed. Highway Initiative According to a proposal from the Republic of Kringalia a highway connecting most of the western continent could be built. Allied nations as well as other interested nations are invited to participate in this project, promising benefits to the economies of all South Pacifican nations. -This might very well be successful. We know from experience that joint roads can be beneficial to the economy. The trade town Kodull/Wesson on the Sedunn/Sherlockopia border has really benefited from the road and tunnel we built together there, says Gererd Sopill, Project Manager of the Department of Transport. Bruuman troops' presence in Sporaltryus is confirmed

Bruuman dictator Papa Unclepear had promised a military aid to defend the fellow socialist state in wake of the planned invasion by the Qvaitian army, but no official announcement have been made yet by the VPRB. According to the anonymous sources, the airborne contingent numbers in thousands and its composed of both regular and specialist infantry from the two countries. Details are obviously scarce, but military experts have recognized soldiers of the "Chicken Itza" battalion of the Pollos Endemoniados Revolucionarios (PER), who fought in the capital Danjer Cove during the Second Puerto Pollo Civil War, concluded just eight months ago. The entity and composition of the Bruuman aircraft force deployed in support of the troops is still obscure.

Bruuma celebrates 58th Independence Day
[Image: 15-140520152648-50.jpg] Bruuman People's Defense Forces APCs parading in Zombieskaya On Novembre 8th, Bruuma held massive celebrations for its 58th Independence Day. The first part for the day was occupied by major military parades in the capital and the major cities, a show of strenght that this year held particular significance in light of the participation of the country in the Sporaltryan War. The parades concluded in political rallies held in stadiums and squares packed with fanatic members of the Workers' Mojo Party. Papa Uncleapera himslef held the speech in Bayougrad. The late afternoon and the evening as usual were instead reserved for street parardes and carnivals filled with music, dances and colors. A rare moment of joy and freedom much valued by the citizens living under the harsh dictatorship. [Image: carnival-salvador-brazil_header.jpg] A band marching during the street carnival in Voodooville Bruuma actually achieved independence from English colonists on November 2nd 1956, but the planned democratic government never came to existence as the Bruuma People Voodoo Liberation Front (the armed wing of the Workers' Mojo Party and the main guerrila force) immediately staged a coup, quickly crushed the opposition and established the socialist Voodoo People’s Republic of Bruuma six days later.

IC: RATSPT has declared its part in Operation Adventure complete, after rescuing the remaining 10,000 Ryccians in Sporaltryus. Meanwhile, Laiwan has reported that it has 4,000 Sporaltryan refugees and 200 Laiwanese, the only Laiwanese in the now nonexistant nation. The Sporaltryans came in hordes to the beaches the Laiwanese disembarked, where the 200 Laiwanese were supposed to be received. They forced their way in, and after picking up the 200 Laiwanese, Laiwan declared that its mission to pick up its citizens has been completed.
