A tough Tournament - GI-Land 0:2 Rebeltopia

At first it looked like an evening, that couldn't be better. Mild temperatures were present in the Sedunnic stadium the game was played in, more than 9000 GI-landians travelled to the most eastern continent of Pacifica just to watch this showdown between their nation and Rebeltopia. The atmosphere was perfect. Everyone was happy and you could feel the electrisation in the air.
The teams got into the stadium and stood there in the row, as firstly the Rebeltopian anthem got played and afterwards the GI-landian one.
Full of pride it sounded like the entire stadium would chant the lines praising honor, freedom and respect.

The Starting XI of GI-Land

----------Berg-----Szalok---------
--------------Klehn-----------------
Pfaff----------------------Meissner
-------------Hertzog---------------
Stern----Vogel---Nadel----Wirth
-------------Springer--------------

Then the game started and it looked good at first for GI-Land. The Rebeltopians could get easily played out with the fast play and pressing the GI-landians did, yet the conversion of chances was horrible. Szalok alone shot in the first half 6 times on the goal, but either it got parried or it just missed its aim completely. Berg wasn't any better and so the first half not really showed anything from both teams.
After a short pause, the second half began and the Rebeltopians were like completely different in comparison to the first half. Now the pressing went against GI-Land. The situation of course couldn't get any better with missed passes in the midfield and suddenly Springer couldn't do any better and the ball was in the goal. After almost 60 minutes, the Rebeltopian team was in the lead.
Treyn thought, he could bring someone better and so replaced one of his attackers. Berg against Fujimoto and indeed the Atlantic-Japanese player was a bit safer in his play, but what should an attacker help, if the defense doesn't work right?
That was the train of though of Treyn too and so he brought Busch for Wirth and that should have been a horrible mistake.
Busch somehow couldn't really get into the game and took a pass from Springer at the border of the penalty area and hasn't noticed, behind him is a Rebeltopian player. He turns around, but it was too late. The Rebeltopian just shot at the goal and Springer was completely unprepared for this - The player of the opponent team seems to have been hidden behind Busch all the time.
After an additional time of 2 minutes, the game ended with a win for Rebeltopia: 2:0 (0:0).

We asked the GI-landian players, the coach and also the Leader, who was present too, what they thought of the game:

"We haven't made a good game here. The first half we had so many chances and just failed absolutely in using them and the second half just was a defense desaster. The thing with Busch and Springer maybe only was bad luck, but even that could have been better."
Juliusz Szalok

"I just haven't seen him. I don't know why, but I thought passing the ball to Busch would be safe and as I noticed this Rebeltopian it was already too late and I could only grab the ball behind me. That was just bad luck."
Christoph Springer

"I think, we just had situations, where we would have to make that goal and we haven't used them and I was furious about that, but could keep myself calm in the cabin during half-time, but maybe I should have let out my fury to the players. Perhaps that's what the Rebeltopian coach did and you could really see, how good they played in the second half. Regarding the Busch-thing, I still think, he's a good player, everyone got a bad day every now and then, it's just infuriating, it had to be today. Now we have to focus for the next game and show, what we got and win this thing."
Gianluc Treyn

"Of course there were games, we definitely played better, but I'm confident, we will win the next thing and I hope, I'll get to see another spectacle the next time too. A fight like today, maybe with a better outcome."
Gianluca IV.

That was the GI-landian National Day!

All festivities are finished, everyone seems happy - That was the GI-landian National Day 2017.
Like every year it was celebrated on the 1st June and like always we not only celebrated the founding of GI-Land 712 years ago - at that time it was the Gianlucian Kingdom though - but also the 18th birthday of our beloved Leader and King, that also finally got the passive electoral rights officially too.

The Festivities

At 10 o'clock in the morning of the 1st June, the Leader set up a speech live broadcasted from the balcony of the Königspalast. Again he said, how much he loved, serving this country and that GI-Land can be proud of itself. Also he talked about the upcoming elections and told everyone listening, that they should inform themselves and give their votes to whoever they like best. This standard phrases should be the first of the now full-aged GI-landian Leader. A bit sad.
After the speech everyone enjoyed their day off, whether alone or with their families. Some used the offer to get into all museums, zoos and aquariums for free, others had a good time with the open (campaigning) discussions of the already announced chancellery candidates near the Königspalast.
Young people, who don't have any interest in all of that, could go to a little festival organised by the government - at least in Atlantis, Freudstadt and Gianlucastadt.
Bands like Pinkin Lark or singer like Tim Tanzko brang a smile on everyone's face.
If all that wasn't enough, big TouYoubers and Switchers made charity streams. They played games and the donations came to aid organisations.

The most important things at the end...

After everything was done at about 18 h in the evening, the protests, especially in Atlantis, began.
Subjects were e.g. a resignation of Gianluca IV., school reforms, anti-globalism or a change from the cat as national animal to the fish.
Among the protesters were unfortunately also some violent ones with the result of a seizure of 300 persons and around 1000 injured policemen and -women.

I guess, we all can see: It was an ultralame national day and if the Atlantics really want, what they shout at demonstrations, they should just vote for the AVP or KPHA.

Proceeding further and further - FCW 2017 GI-Land 2:0 FSoO

Starting XI of GI-Land

----------Berg---Szalok---------
-----------Ostermann-----------
Pfaff--------------------Meissner
-------------Hertzog-------------
Stern---Vogel--Nadel---Wirth
------------Springer-------------
Substitutes:

Szalok > Busch (46')
Hertzog > Peters (63')
Ostermann > Klehn (85')

It's like a dream come true: GI-Land proceeds participating in the FCW in Flered (Sedunn) after a 2:0-victory against Omega.
The Omegans, playing in royal blue, started good at first, but in the 11th minute after a corner kick Berg could score with a volley to the first goal of the Gianlucians playing in yellow.
In the 35th minute a shock moment when Szalok got fouled from behind in the box, which led to a penalty. Unfortunately Ostermann couldn't use his chance to score his first goal in this competition.
Same applied to an Omegan, also fouled in the box by Wirth, who got a red card afterwards and won't play in the next round of the tournament.
Now with only ten players left, the GI-landians struggled a bit to keep up with the Omegan play strategies, but because luck was on their side, there wasn't a 1-1 until Half Time.

Directly after the pause Szalok got substituted by defender Busch, who played now on Wirth's free position, while Berg had to be the only striker in front.
The Omegans somehow didn't play their game from before and made quite a few mistakes. This situation got exploited by the Gianlucians soon as Peters shot a cross to Meissner, who finished the action to a 2:0 for GI-Land in the 60th minute.
The 25.000 GI-landians fans and also the GI-landian leader and minister of culture celebrated very much on the stands.
After 3 minutes additional time, the game ended with a Gianlucian victory. The next team to play against is SAM, who won against our Erinoran neighbours 1:0. SAM shouldn't get underestimated on the one hand, on the other our team always played good against it. Anyway we will hopefully see a good match.

We're in the final!

Starting XI of GI-Land

---------Berg---Szalok----------
----------Ostermann------------
Pfaff--------------------Meissner
------------Peters----------------
Stern---Vogel--Nadel---Busch
------------Springer-------------

Substitutes:
Berg > Ranke (63')
Ostermann > Kristansien (74')
Meissner > Neumann (79')

Welcome back again in Sedunn to the FWC 2017!
Today GI-Land plays against his favourite opponent SAM against which the team, today playing in red, won two out of two times already.
Still Treyn offers his always present sentence of not underestimating a team to the press. In the afternoon with mild temperatures the game started.
GI-landian fans and also the present Minister of Culture, Religion, Sports and E-Sports, Guck, supported the team heavily from the stands.
It was only the 5th minute, when GI-Land got their first chance to shoot on the goal.
Ostermann in front passed to Berg, but unfortunately he was on the offside. Only 10 minutes later the next chance. A player from SAM stumbles unluckily over the ball. Peters gets the ball and passed it to Meissner, who then gave Pfaff on the other side the ball. A long ball to Szalok in front, who sidestepped the goalkeeper of SAM. No chance for him anymore and so the 1-0 for GI-Land in the 16th minute.

Still SAM got a strong will and so the team was after the 1-0 even harder to beat. So hard, that they could equalise the score in the 40th minute with a nice header by a defender of SAM. At half time, the score was 1-1.
Without any tactical changes, GI-Land came back to the game after the pause. They played calmly against pretty hard working and aggressive SAMs. In the 61st minute this playstyle got payed off as Berg got fouled and Szalok could do a free kick.
The free kick met the crossbar, fell back on the head of Ostermann, who made now his first goal in this tournament.
After celebrating the goal, the shock! Berg is injured and had to get substituted by Ranke in the 63rd minute.

This message was maybe shocking, but also it got some taste of "We want revenge" in the Gianlucian team. That's maybe why more and more long shots were made by the team in red and yellow. One of those shots even had success in the 82nd minute, as GI-Land elevated the score to a 3-1. Szalok shot his brace there.

The game came to an end after long 4 minutes of additional time and every one like our Minister of Culture (you see above) was happy that GI-Land is now officially in the final of this competition and will play against Frost, which have beaten the hosts from Sedunn.

Why GI-Land quit with the PSE

It's not even a week ago since the GI-landian companies, that were part of the PSE, quit being tradeable.
This did happen due to a decision of the Royal Stock Exchange "KVM", which wanted "GI-landian companies united in our big GI-landian stock exchange and not a foreign one". But why?
This question was in the heads of several economists the last few days and perhaps the only real explanation is actually, that the KVM hopes to be a stronger stock exchange overall than the international PSE. In fact the Gianlucian economy isn't the worst, but is it really enough to compete with the mass index located in the FSoO?
Most people say "No", others still think about it or argue, that it could've been neither a good nor a bad step, now that former PSE-companies like Enyon are struggling, while the KVM companies are mostly doing fine.
Sadly only time will show us, how the decision will actually affect the economy and if maybe the calculation of the KVM results in what they wish for.

FLASH NEWS

Shortly before campaigning starts, this is the result of the last poll.
The KPHA gains one more percent and is now only one percent away of getting into Königspalast. Most of the left parties and the AVP are losing percentages, while PPG and SLP can manage to gain a little.
The campaigning period for the elections in September hopefully will be very exciting, especially at the end, when the new voting system will get used for the first time.

There are only 10 days left until the Königspalast election 2017 and there was movement!
The KPHA's campaigning pays off, they gain again 1%, which they stole from the AVP and would now get to 5% of the votes. This would mean, that the KPHA would get 34 seats in the new Königspalast.
The Green Party (Grüne) and Social Democrats (SDP) also achieved one more percent in the polls and would now get 47 (Grüne)/130 (SDP) seats.
When we want to take a look on which two-party-coalitions would be possible, we see that only the current Social-coalition out of SLP and SDP would get a majority of seats with their altogether 55%.
Now we could also take a look on the realistic three-party-coalitions. There we can observe that an Atlantic coalition out of KPHA and SLP only is possible by bringing in the PPG into the coalition (50%/327 seats). A coalition out of SLP and either FDP and Grüne would need the PPG to participate in the coalition talks too.
A collaboration of SLP and AVP or LGI can get excluded, same applies for any coalition right now, where the SLP doesn't participate since it would demand more than three parties to collaborate.

Another interesting detail to look on is, why so many former AVP-voters rather give the KPHA their votes.
Mostly it's because of what Ikaros VIII. proclaims on his rallies: He's a true Atlantic alternative not wanting to destroy GI-Land, while also wanting to strengthen the situation of the Atlantic people in the country - exactly what Atlantic right-wing voters would want more.
We can be very excited for the elections on the 10th September, that will show how many more voters of the AVP Ikaros can convince to vote for the King's Party.

Results of the TV-duel between Kirchmann and Chulz

The intro of the duel is playing, the moderators are introducing themselves and the party of the candidates, who will fight for all the undecisive voters out there at the screen. How did Kirchmann and Chulz act, what did they say and what was the outcome of that all?
Let's dig into this show in detail.

Appearance

Both candidates went into the studio full of self-confidence. While Kirchmann came with a white shirt and other than that overall blue and silver, Chulz came into the room with a black suit and a red tie - like always. The thirty seconds each candidate got to talk to the voters directly and tell them as short as possible, why they should vote for them, were used by both, although Kirchmann seemed to be more eloquent than Chulz with what he said.
"Although true justice is an utopian fantasy, we can make our system and this country as fair as possible as fast as possible. Schmidt maybe had his flaws and at the end maybe not enough vigour to propose more needed laws to the Leader, but that's why I want to bring fresh air to the parliament and to the government of GI-Land."

Q&A with studio guests

Now it was Chulz' turn. Even though he might be not as eloquent as Kirchmann, he is a bit better in communicating with other people. Both understood the guests' problems, whether it'd be their too low pensions, their internet being not fast enough or their difficulties to find a job, but Chulz showed more empathy in his answers, while Kirchmann seemed to look on things too rational for this round of questions.
Nevertheless both seemed trustworthy to many people, only on different levels.

Q&A on social media

Although Kirchmann looks younger, he doesn't use social media as often as Chulz. The SLP-candidate admitted openly "that it is maybe wrong to not use those things especially in times of campaigning", but he rather works on "real politics" than on "what hashtag to use for the new post".
A round of laughter was given due to this remark, until the showmasters gave it back to the social media team that asked the candidates now the most liked questions on Stream. In this part eloquence was asked more, so Kirchmann could convince our editorial team more, but on social media Chulz and the "Chulztrain" were more popular.

Results of the duel

The results came in very quickly on the end of the almost two-hour long emission. The SDP and Chulz could gain three percent, which they took from the SLP and LGI, but the SLP also got at least one point from the PPG. How the entire poll situation looks like we can observe after the "election arena" this evening, where PPG, LGI, AVP, FDP, Greens and KPHA compete for more votes.

What the election arena showed us

It's the evening of the small fractions and around 17 million viewers witnessed it: The election arena on the private TV-channel RFM.
The candidates of AVP, LGI, PPG, Greens, FDP and KPHA got asked questions about daily life and convinced or scared away potential voters with their answers.
Franz von Neptunsberg, candidate of the AVP, did the latter more as he was blatantly rude to his counterparts and insulted the former Atlantic king Ikaros VIII. more than bringing good arguments for his party. Furthermore he openly lied, talked about over 4 million unemployed Gianlucians and that Atlantics get discriminated at court.
It really was the worst performance he could've given, but he seemed proud: "I really showed all those pigs out there that they just can't push down the true Atlantic movement!".

Another loser of the evening was the other extreme side of the parliament. The Left GIs, short LGI, took the numbers of their right-wing opponents about the unemployment seriously and built up every discussion on those wrong numbers. Furthermore they have advertised for increasing taxes for the middle and higher classes to help those "4 million people on the bottom of our system".
Maybe Ms. Vando has never read, that a society is built up on the middle class and not on the lower incomes and an increase of taxes for the biggest part of the Gianlucian population isn't really a popular idea, even if this means that public transport, education and energy will become completely free.

The FDP on the other hand had the opposite problem. They talked too much about the middle and higher income classes and didn't pay attention to the low incomes.
The sentence "If they would've learned something proper, they wouldn't be in this situation" brought tears to the eyes of some guests in the studio.
"I have made my A-Levels, studied to be a kindergarten teacher. Now Ms. Klacena says to me, I haven't learned something proper even though my job is more than needed in GI-Land? It is MY fault, that I earn too little money and that I'd need a second job, but can't do it, because I've got a daughter at home I want to take care of too? This was embarassing!", said Maria Kanana (47) in an interview afterwards.

All this led to a loss of percentages in the poll for the three parties. It seems unlikely, that they will gain those back in the remaining week until the election.

The winners of this dispute were definitely the PPG, Greens and the KPHA.
While the KPHA only profited, like always, from the stupidity of von Neptunsberg and the face of Ikaros VIII, the Greens and PPG won by having good arguments with each other and telling the people the pros and cons of each of their programs.
Moritz Strabinger, the young candidate of the Pirates, surprised with his eloquence and knowledge on difficult subjects his party really doesn't seem to care about in their program and always had an answer, while Marja Sanddorn, candidate of the Green party, was, like Chulz the day before, the person, who was more in contact with the people. Proudly she told the studio, how she talked to more than 200 people for more than 15 minutes about their problems and that she talked to anyone, indifferent of their ethnicity, income class, job or family status. "I've learned a lot of those people and like I did in my talks, the future government should make politics for ALL people and not only for one or two groups of them", she concluded.

Results

We asked after the election arena everyone in the studio and also more than 1,000 people we called randomly throughout the country, whom they would give the vote next Sunday. These are the results of the poll:

As for coalitions only a social one (SLP/SDP) or a coalition out of SLP, PPG and a third party would be possible.
The SDP alone still has a too low percentage to form more left coalitions with other parties of the Königspalast.
AVP, LGI and FDP have to pay attention on how they continue campaigning as they are in danger of having to leave the Königspalast the moment they fall below the threshold of 5%.
The elections get more and more interesting the nearer election day comes!

On Thursday there will be the next ballot to vote on.
The ratification of the WF-charter is just around the corner and political experts are talking about a safe victory for the proposal.
"We don't see any party currently in the Königspalast that might have something against this ballot. It will pass definitely."

Although a representative for the WF isn't elected yet with the ratification of the charter.
"This is a bit tricky yet, because the government is responsible for that and currently we don't have a complete government anymore until the coalition talks end and a chancellor gets elected. Same applies for the ambassadors that need to get approved or replaced by a new government."

It's still much to do until normality comes back into Gianlucian politics.
