Minister of Foreign Affairs Nagisa Kuribayashi:

"Members of the Press, We cordially welcome you to this press conference regarding the Empire’s recent incursion into Transsuneria in Early October. I am Nagisa Kuribayashi, Foreign minister of the Frost Empire. With me are The Sedunnic Foreign minister, Hevv Gjieramm, General Maks Fejellienn, Sedunnic Supreme Commander of the Sedunnic Armed Forces, who will provide the Sedunnic perspective on the battle for Karelins. As well as Grand Admiral Seijuro Kuribayashi, Grand Admiral of the Imperial Frost Navy who will detail the unclassified military actions of the Empire.”

“Several Months before the seven pillars tragedy, the Reizen Independence Movement had seized the Transsunerian island of the Karelins as a result of a deal with deposed Transsunerian leader Horace Soormann. The Imperial Military observed the terrible evolution of the RIM’s desperate foreign incursions with increasing worry, but couldn’t act due to being fully committed to dealing with the main RIM threat on Reizen province.

Our Sedunnic allies dispatched their detachment to investigate the Karelin’s situation, and found that the RIM Submersible Fleet had taken refuge near the island disrupting maritime trade using the Karelin’s as a staging area. Unfortunately, the RIM Submersible Fleet proved to be more than a thorn in the side as they successfully crippled the local Transsunerian defenses and forced the Sedunnic detachment to engage in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. This deadly game continued until the Seven Pillars tragedy when Several Hundred Thousand people were killed effectively ending the war in a pyrrhic victory for the Imperial Coalition forcing the RIM political leadership to flee the province during the tragedy…”

 “Grand Admiral, if you may...”

Grand Admiral of the Imperial Frost Navy Seijuro Kuribayashi

“Thank you minister, the Seven Pillars were devastating… However, the victory allowed the Imperial Frost Navy’s Reizen Blockade task force to be reorganized to hunt down the remnants of the Reizen Independence Movement with a vengeance. On October 3rd, the Imperial 9th Fleet engaged and pursued remnants of the Reizen Independence Movement’s surface fleet across the South pacific Ocean engaging in a bitter battle of cat and mouse for several days.

Our goal was simple, sink as many of their treacherous ships into the dark depths of the ocean. To achieve this, the Empire dispatched AWACs “Skyeye” and two multi-role squadrons to intercept the RIM surface fleet. Our intelligence agents also determined that the RIM Surface Fleet would seek to rendezvous with the RIM Submersible fleet, so we contacted the Sedunnic detachment to coordinate a devastating strike on the RIM Surface Fleet.

Unfortunately the Sedunnic detachment and our Squadrons took the brunt of the RIM Surface Fleet’s desperate struggles until the 9th Fleet could move into position to effectively reinforce the coalition forces. Our last report from the 9th fleet stated that the RIM Surface fleet was sunk and our forces are landing on the Karelins as we speak.”

Sedunnic Minister of Foreign Affairs Hevv Gjieramm

"Thank you to the Frost for hosting this conference, and thank you to those who attend and are listening.

Sedunn has cooperated with the Empire, the WPR and the RDC to restore peace in Reizen and to safeguard international law and decency. The war on the RIM very unfortunately spilled over to Transsuneria where RIM forces conspired and collaborated with former Grand Master Horace Soormann and loyalists to him. Together they took out the local authorities on Karelins, and managed to occupy the island. Like my Forst colleague just explained, the RIM soon established a base on Karelins to support its navy while most our naval forces were engaged in the Reizen Campaign and temporarily unable to root them out. Our success in Reizen enabled us to finally dispatch naval forces.

General, please continue."

Supreme Commander of the Sedunnic Armed Forces General Maks Fejellienn

"Thank you minister. Yes. A significant part of our navy had been providing support to our ground forces in Reizen, and after the fall of the RIM in Reizen, we were able to properly deal with the situation in Transsuneria. While I will keep the exact numbers secret, a majority of the entire Sedunnic Navy was dispatched to the Transsunerian Sea to achieve two goals. 1: to cooperate with the Empire to locate and defeat the RIM surface fleet, and 2: to eliminate the threat by RIM subs to Transsunerian assets in the region and to pave the way for ground troops to land on Karelins.

I will now explain the sequence of events that now has been given the name 'Battle for the Transsunerian Sea', or 'Battle of Karelins' and more specifically Sedunnic actions.

Sedunnic, Transsunerian and Imperial assets cooperated to locate the RIM surface fleet, and specifically RIM airborne radars. The elimination of their beyond-horizon capabilities would allow the Sedunnic and Frost fleets to manoeuvre and get into optimal firing positions, without being spotted by the RIM.

Locating and eliminating RIM airborne radars was achieved through high-stakes surveillance performed by Frost multi-role squadrons and Sedunnic stealth ships, who unfortunately suffered heavy losses. They were however, like the Grand Admiral said, successful, which enabled the combined Sedunnic and Frost fleets to fire overwhelming salvoes at the RIM surface fleet which incapacitated and completely destroyed the RIM surface fleet. An edge in technology and intelligence also added to the Sedunnic advantage over the RIM ships.

This is as far as I know the largest naval battle since the Great War and one of the greatest victories ever. We shall forever be grateful and remember the sacrifice of our sailors, pilots and officers.

The victory in this battle has paved the way for the ongoing liberation of Karelins. We continue to cooperate with the Empire and Transsuneria.

Thank you."
