This change is logical, it is sensible, and it is simple.

I'm not opposed to an aquatic orientation. I'm opposed to a naval orientation, which seems stuffy and pompous and reminds me of the British Navy, British regions, and Europeia Tounge

TSP's theme is more cheerfully aquatic than naval - island paradises and coconuts and beaches are playful and light-hearted. To me at least, "Vice Admiral" is more stuffy than light-hearted. Our current theme is based around the ocean itself, with things like the tsunamis and tides and ocean myths, and imo our current rank names might not fit that perfectly but they're generic enough to not clash.

I liked Belschaft's idea of a pirate theme more tbh because that fits better with the island paradise vibe.

I lean in favor of this

I'm generally fine with redoing the ranks. We have an aquatic theme, an aquatic military is a Navy, I'm fine with Naval ranks and theming. Perhaps "Officer" and "Commander" shouldn't change if there's a concern about that producing too much confusion/uncertainty, but I think changing to "Cadet", "Sailor", and "Admiral" wouldn't create too much confusion and would be more theme matching.

If there was a way to do a pirate theme, I'd be fine with that too.

I'm not as generally "uncomfortable" with this as others are, possibly by virtue of not being British and therefore not having strong negative associations with the British Navy. To me, "Generals" feel far more military than "Admirals"

In terms of the naval ranks, Commander is a fine naval rank that I think lends itself to less confusion than Vice Admiral (Commander to Admiral vs Vice Admiral to Admiral).

Why not Cadet → Sailor → Captain → Commander → Admiral? I'm looking for ways to keep captain in there for obvious reasons.

While I am myself supportive of the use of Captain as a rank, although I suspect not for the same reason as you ( Tounge

), I tend to agree with HumanSanity that a compromise of simplicity is warrented:

I like this it fits with our regions aquatic theme and I don't see why anyone would oppose this amendment the way it currently is.

It has been five days since the last alteration to these proposed amendments and now it has now fulfilled the minimum debate period stipulated in the Legislative Procedure Act.

Accordingly, I motion to bring the amendments to a vote in the Assembly.
