Facts about your nation
#1

Tell facts about your nation! Weird, interesting, funny topics... no decent topic is off-limits. I'll start.

In Ryccia, there is a crazy law passed in 1789, that states that you cannot eat chocolate during the 12th second of 8:39 PM. Breaking this law can get you in 5 minutes of prision. Its so crazy that everyone ignores it and even the police breaks the law. However, there has been a case in 2003, in which a police officer arrested a 31 year old for breaking this law. The police officer was apparently feeling down and to entertain himself, he arrested the woman for fun(and to bully someone). She spent 5 minutes in jail as the law said.

In Hammerstar, there has been a rule known as Regula Rationalis. It was written ever since the classical age (~500 AC), but it was perished since the chaotic revolutions. It was brought back on the re-establishment of the nation, and enforced since 1985, which basically states that all TIK citizens are required to:

-Know 20 languages, be fluent in 15, and master at 10. (They are allowed to choose some international languages like Ryccian, Feirmontian, Kringalian, Sporaltryan, Resentinian, Qvaitican, etc. They are also allowed to choose chinese, japanese, italian, english and other variations thereof. Old languages like Gallic, Latin and Khmer are also allowed. One of the foundational language in TIK: Latium, is a must, no matter how many languages have been learnt)
-Must be adept in at least 3 Social studies (Economics, Metaphysics, Politics, Art, Philosophy, Law, Latium Literature, History, etc) and 3 Scientific studies (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Calculus, Medicine, Biology, Astrology, Agriculture, etc). [Note: This is basically saying that you need 6 professorate degrees and really master at what you do. Oh, and it is illegal to professionally work unless you have two professorate degrees. Old study majors like Steam Power, Aristotelian studies, Alchemy, Apothecary and natural medicine are allowed, and they are quite up to date]
-Must be able to master three weapons(Bow, sword, Mace, spear, javelin, quarterstaff, etc), and 4 Martial Arts (Tae-Kwon-Do, Karate, Gatka, Silat, Kapoera, Kendo, etc)

So this is what the rule basically states. Now here's the thing, the mindset of the people are changed now. Though some people are given citizenry in Hammerstar, they are not formally acknowledged to be a citizen unless they pass Regula Rationalis. High-school level subjects are finished at the age of fifteen, and the average citizen would attain two professorate degrees in the age of 24. Furthermore, education is forever free and feasible despite of skin, sex, age, sexual preference, nationality, background history and family title.

Grand Valerius States has a Giant Underground city and there capital known as the Grand City of Arziovila. A law passed in this city that if you are spotted above ground from 11:15 pm to 1:15 am you will tried for treasonous intent after the original city of Arziovila (now Old Arziovila) was bomb during that timeframe during the brief civil war in the 1930s. This law has only been used to arrest a person once because the policeman though he saw a bomb, this was directly after the civil war so tensions of a second one were high. That officer however ended up being a general for Aurelius Charles Tealesh the II.

A second weird fact is in the mountainous and arctic south if you are seen climbing a mountain by the south peak at exactly 12:01 am you will be fined 1201 Valeris. The law was put into effect by the insane governor of Vali, who was obsessed with 1201. The law was put into effect in 1998 and has been used against 9 people who lived on the peak and got home at 12:03 am they would be going up the peak at 12:01 am, all were residences of the same house as it was sold 8 times the last time it is still old by the last owner to be fined, who now drives from the north peak back to his home.
I represent the Grand Valerius States and that's about it, oh and I'm slowly going to try and be active on here.

Although the Azimis are a muslim ethnicity, the Azimi Autonomous Division has one of the highest alcohol comsumption rates in Ryccia. This is because their version of Islam, Azimi Islam, is more liberal than other versions of Islam.

There is a similar thread as well: http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/thread-1993.html.

In Sedunn there is this thing called Nosevbradd - Fruit Tree - a smaller plant found in many homes. In the old ages it was very common for families to have at least one tree which bore fruit (apple, pear, orange, plum) in their land lot. When the population started to move into the growing cities, people wanted to preserve the tradition. It was often not practical to have a full grown tree in the living room, so the families either chose to have other smaller fruit giving plants (like tomatoes) or to have younger trees and to replant those out-doors when they are too large remain indoors. Because of this, there are several parks in the cities dedicated to replanting Nosevbradds.

In Ryccia, there is a strange fruit called Aquaberry. It tastes like blueberry and a hint of apple and cherry, but much more sweeter. The existance of aquaberry was made possible by farmers throught the Middle Ages, who bred the sweetest Ryccian blueberries with sweet apples and Ryccian cherries. Although it seemed impossible, it actually worked. The Ryccian blueberry-apple-Ryccian cherry crossbreed became popular, and to this day, aquaberries are popular in Ryccia(Don't know this is possible though in RL. But you can crossbreed fruit to make another type, or so I've heard).
