A cat's collar bone is not connected to any other bone in its body. The forelimbs are attached to the shoulder by free-floating clavicle bones, which allows them to pass their body through any space into which they can fit their heads

Here's a random fact from, well, RandomGuy Tounge

There is no evidence, archaeological or otherwise, that Viking warriors wore any type of horns or wings on their helmets. What we do have is one single piece of evidence, the ninth century Oseberg tapestry, suggesting a rare ceremonial use (the relevant figure on the tapestry may even be that of a god, rather than representative of real Vikings) and plenty of evidence for plain conical/domed helmets made mainly of leather.

Had to revive this thread because of this little fact I found.

During the Cold War, Switzerland (yes, freaking Switzerland) considered the construction of a Swiss nuclear bomb. Leading nuclear physicists at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich such as Paul Scherrer made this a realistic possibility. However, financial problems with the defense budget prevented the substantial funds from being allocated, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty of 1968 was seen as a valid alternative. All remaining plans for building nuclear weapons were dropped by 1988.

Brazil participated in the Allied side of WW2, making it the only South American country to do so (I think). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilia...nary_Force

Actually, most South American countries did end up declaring war on Germany, Italy and/or Japan, including mine. However, most of them did it when the war was practically over, and only for PR reasons (most of them had signed the United Nations Declaration, which essentially was a pledge to fight on the signatories' part). Colombia declared war earlier than most (1943), but mostly spent its time patrolling its waters to stop German submarines from coming close. So yeah, Brazil (which declared war on 1942) was the only one to actually fight.

The 16th German Federal Assembly will elect a new President on the 12th February 2017.
It consits of the 630 MPs and 630 other persons, who are partly MPs of the state parliaments and partly just persons of public interest like Peter Maffay (musician, for SPD), Joachim Löw (German trainer of the national football team, for Grüne) and Frank Thelen (entrepreneur, for FDP).

In WW2, when the Nazis invaded the Netherlands, they demanded the surrender of the port of Rotterdam. They hesitated at first, but then they did surrender. However, the bombers scheduled to bomb the city never received a recall message, and the city was devastated anyway.
