Citizenship Removal Updates

And now there's no mechanism for changing the rules, except bitching enough. Great. >_>

Unless you want us to start ignoring the law, yes. Moderation Policies take effect seven days after they have been debated in the Assembly. I made it abundantly clear that if something needed fixing, it could be fixed. I'd appreciate it if you actually read the first thing that we put in the policies, about they not being set in stone.

That being said, this isn't the thread to debate moderation policies. Thanks.

When that's the place 'til now unknown policies are introduced, it's as good a place as any to debate 'em, not that it applies to Uni right now.

I've never seen it done before anywhere...

Why would we delete accounts? How is this helpful to us?

The Genesis Corporation used to do it. I know of a few other regions that have done it as well. However, I don't agree with this policy. While this may be standard practice in a normal online forum community, NS is far from normal. TSP has NEVER practiced the deleting of ANY accounts on the forums w/ the exception of spammers.

I also believe that the admins need to remember that this is a pretty drastic change for TSP. Because of this you are getting flack about it. Going hardline will not get anything accomplished here and will just cause more strife. I know from experience. Tounge

This isn't "drastic." You guys are honestly just freaking out over absolutely nothing. Literally. You're freaking out over a handful of accounts that haven't been used and are most likely dormant spam accounts. This is the dumbest scandal that's ever been manufactured in TSP. The admin team isn't "going hardline." The people making this a huge deal are being unreasonable.
#45

No Glen, you're the one being unreasonable. You haven't been able to provide any justifiable need for actions that people disapprove of, and instead of recognizing that fact you're standing your ground out of... Stubbornness? Pride?

The admin team absolutely has to realize that the region is not happy with this, and change the policy. If the admin team is not responsive to the regions citizenry then the current status quo regarding administration will quickly become untenable.

I have given numerous reasons for this decision. Again, just because you don't like the reasons doesn't mean they haven't been given. I don't think anybody has given any good reason why it's a bad idea. You seem to dislike it because, well, you dislike everything I do anyways. The other reasons given are (a) that people might want to window shop before posting and (b) some people might only want to use the forums to PM people. Both those reasons are poor. Convince us why we shouldn't follow standard forum procedures, and we'll change our minds. Coming up with obscure justifications for why somebody maybe perhaps might register and neglect to use an account isn't convincing.

What we have here is the administration team doing something absolutely commonplace on internet forums, and a handful of people objecting for no real reason other than they're not used to TSP's admins doing it. Stop trying to manufacture a scandal, and there won't be a rift between the admins and a handful of forum users. All this woe is absurd, so I'm going to stop responding and explaining why we're doing some completely reasonable to do.

We've called your reasons poor, just like youre calling our reasons poor. The difference is, YOU serve US, NOT the other way around. You're supposed to serve the Assembly, Glenn. I dont see how this thread is actually doing that.

It's been made very clear to you that we do not approve of this decision. It is the duty of the admin team to respond to that, and declaring that it is simply standard practice - when it is quite apparent that it is not standard practice in NS and more importantly in TSP - is not a response.

I am by no means satisfied with your response, and unless a satisfactory one that addresses our objections rather than dissmising us is produced the Assembly may have no alternative but to reconsider Unibots proposals as the lesser of two evils.

Guys -- I am tired of playing this game.

This thread has the markings of everything that is wrong with the region at the moment. We want everything to be how the used to be. Or we want everything to be different. But we want everyone to approve of every 100%. And somewhere in all of these, people are suppose to read each others' minds.

The reason for deleting account is so there aren't hundreds to go through on the back end. It makes things easier if there's less to deal with. I'm surprised this a hard concept to understand.

If you don't like it -- fine. Say that. But let's not play dumb or misconstrue what's going on. If you think that having accounts forever is more important than the ease of forum administration, say that.

Frankly, I think we should go through with Uni's suggestions. I get that everyone is concerned about the administration being "political," but the last set of forums were "apolitical" and we can all see how that turned out.

Granted, I don't know much about setting up a lasting forum system. So maybe all of it is a bad idea.

Question:
Are we deleting accounts that have not posted in their first 7 days even if they've logged in during that time? Say someone registers June 3rd, but doesn't post by June 10th. Are we deleting them even if they logged in, say, June 8th?
