Citizenship Removal Updates
#61

if it's gonna get to that point, which it shouldn't, then have at it. There is no need for non activated accounts. it doesn't make sense that a person would register for an account and then do nothing with it. if they were that interested they should have, and i think would have, made an effort. and if they are and don't have anything, well then by all means try again, and this time... stick around Smile Most of us are friendly here Smile

We're not talking about unactivated accounts, we're talking about activated accounts deemed "unused" entirely arbitrarily.

And my point stands. There is no reason to keep non-activated/never used accounts. It is a hassle that is unnecessary and frankly I'm surprised that trying to keep things organized and simple is getting such flack. But then again this is TSP and when has anything ever been organized and simple?

It would be different if these accounts participated on the forums. Even if it was only in the spam threads. but the ones that i'm under the impression have already been deleted (if not please correct me) are serving no purpose. They have not been on since registering or they have not even been activated. What pray tell is the point of keeping these accounts? And please don't feed me the line about "rights" They don't have any yet. Just becasue you register on the forums doesn't mean that you get to have those right off the bat, unless that has changed in the few weeks i was absent...

It's not even never used accounts. Under this policy, someone can log on everyday, read everything, and send PMs, but, if they don't post, their account is deleted. Deletin' the accounts sounds like the unnecessary hassle to me. It'd be much simpler to let sleepin' dogs lie. Perhaps they just want an early join date for vanity purposes or they wanna reserve what might be a fairly common name. That's more of a reason for someone to register an unused account than any admin has given for deletin' 'em.

How exactly is it a hassle? There is no limit to the number of accounts that there may be. These accounts cause no trouble, produce no work for the admin team, offend no one.

If someone chooses to register an account on our forums then good for them. They can use it as much or as little as they like. That is their choice. And it is entirely unnecessary, unreasonable and objectionable for the admin team - actually, make that Glen, because we all know who's absurd idea this was - to delete them because he's decided that it's "standard practice". Especially when it hasn't been standard practice here for the last eleven years.

I just dont understand how making LESS work for the admin team is such a hassle to them...

If removing registered, "unused" accounts is "standard practice", then I should have my account removed, ex post facto. Like I said before. I was registered here probably a week or two BEFORE Ant PM'd me, and it was about a week AFTER that I finally made a post. So, thats 2-3 weeks I lurked before posting. If this is going to be the way its going to be, Id like my account removed ex post facto, and Ill re-register... maybe.

This thread is unbelievable. It's incredibly dumb to discourage people who made an account and didn't post after a week.

It's not like they've been inactive for years and it could discourage people from getting involved. It's completely ass backwards.

Also, michu, a member of this community for years got her citizenship revoked, this region has lost it's mind.

I don't know where this government mentality of 'what have the citizens done for me lately' has come from, but it's a terrible mentality to have.

Policies that try to force activity have been creating barriers to activity.

Insane. Consider this my one post in "30 days".

I agree with everyone that says these accounts affect nothing. As GE put it, let sleeping dogs lie.
