Indeed. The "pruning" policy caused this issue, but it was the failure of the admin team to respond and the dismissive attitude that was directed against people raising concerns that brought us here. As I said earlier, it's the attitude that concerns me most. People should not be dismissed and insulted by an admin when they raise very real concerns about a controversial policy.

And the admins should not be attacked because they have ideas that are different from yours. Numerous attempts were made towards compromise. SOME members of the assembly decided to go wacko. And so you know, that's not an attack, it's a fact. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it gets vetoed. We' don't just dismiss things because some people don't like them. We discuss them and work towards middle ground. Oh wait... Why would we do something that makes SENSE?

To the contrary, we were repeatedly told that we were ignorant, and that our complaints simply stemmed from us not knowing what we were talking about. We were dismissed utterly out of hand in an incredibly arrogant manner.

Further, compromise has no inherent value. A middle between two different positions is not automatically good, and compromise may not be able to be reached. If your position is "admins should not be deleting peoples accounts" then admin deleting them a little later is not an improvement.

While I probably woulda phrased it differently, I think that's essentially right. While I'm usually the first person to propose a compromise, there's far less room for compromise in this particular instance than there are in most, and I even tried to propose some additional checks and balances to the policy. However, they were dismissed out of hand as quickly as almost everything else that anyone opposed to the policy has had to say.

We also got conflated between "pruning" and removal citizenships.

As I've said previously -- this idea that comprise is bad is not a way to run anything. It didn't work with Hile's forums; it hasn't worked in the Assembly; and it obviously crashed and burned here.

The compromise starts with why this should be implemented and how we can reach an agreement. I'm not saying any of that has been presented or debated particularly well, but that's where we start to find a compromise.

It shouldn't be implemented though. If your idea of "compromise" is that the exact thing we object to keeps happening then we're not going to get anywhere.

To expand on Tsunamy's post above, Michu had her citizenship removed because the last time she posted was 04/15/14 04:23 AM. The law requires that citizens log on and post at least twice every 30 days, otherwise they are eligible to be removed when the Administration Team next does an activity check. The law doesn't exclude legacy citizens.

Honestly, I'm ok with not having citizenship right now. If my account had been deleted I'd be heartbroken and wouldn't come back, but that's just because I've been around for ages (to the point where I have/had an emoticon). I don't want my citizenship back because I know I can't commit to regular posting. If I can keep it up for a month or two I'll ask for citizenship again, but until then I'm fine with just semi-regular posting. The way I see it, citizenship isn't about being able to vote and that's cool (that would be extremely detrimental to the region), but rather a collective that shares responsibility for making informed decisions. If I can't commit to being around, I can't in good conscience be a citizen.

Also, I'd like to note that I'm flattered to be an example of "where do we draw the line." It brings a warm fuzzy feeling to the void where my heart should be. Tounge
