I saw the first page of this thread and the first page of the voting thread. I was confused as hell lol. Luckily i read the whole thread and saw that this whole conversation changed drastically. There should have been a separate debate thread for this bill tbh.

I've said this on Discord and don't think the bill will achieve what the Assembly aimed to (i.e. reduce DM campaigning) but I actually think this is a worthwhile bill in of itself, with a few minor tweaks.

Please be advised that the vote to amend Article 1 of the Elections Act has FAILED.

The final tally is 17 in favour, 14 in opposition, with 7 abstaining, for a total of 38 votes.

The vote failed to pass with 55% voting in favour, thus not satisfying the requirement for a three-fifths supermajority of those voting with the exclusion of abstentions.
