Well, nothing really, just wanted the discussion going again. Although there seems to be some support for adding new continents as "decor" initially.

Im with Ryccia, here.
While I understand that it'll be used as a historical RP, thats really breaking canon. We pretty much except anything here thats current time, and allow almost anything for RP history. Plopping a new continent into Pacifica and saying its been there forever is kinda weird.
If you want to RP the past, or future for that matter, theres Knowhere for that... Theres no rule saying you cant use the canon map for non-canon RP, as long as youre RPing in Knowhere.

If you want to RP a past event that is intended to be canon, Bantam is actually a suitable location.

The purpose of the new lands in a historical RP point of view is for vague references for stuff like places of origin of different RL religions we use, or old colonial empires that some people want for their nation's history. I agree it would be strange (and unrealistic) to suddenly discover new continents, so any new continent would have been discovered long ago and be known to all modern nations. We've always managed to incorporate new nations into our RP as they've joined, so I don't see any practical issues here.
There are other reasons to add more land too that were discussed. One is that there has been a consensus for some years now that there are more continents, but we don't interact with them. And if they are out there, it would be nice to know what they look like.
There might also issues with having such a vast ocean related to climate and natural disasters.

Agreed, and it has been done before.

I still dont understand the need for this. To me, its adding non-canon into our canon. If you want to RP that your people moved, theres plenty of unoccupied lands on our map that you could play to.

I agree there's no need, we've managed quite well over almost five years Adding new continents adds a little more detail to the RP world but wouldn't change anything really. Canon is unaffected.
