Alright -- so Article V 3 of the treaty suggests that all the signatories must agree to various protocols. I do not like this idea, at all. I don't think TSP should be pressured from outside groups in any way shape or form.

Uni — essentially — just told me if we're not willing to follow that, TSP shouldn't sign the treaty.

I'd be fine with that since I don't want other people attempting to force TSP into things. What's everyone else's thoughts?

Sounds a reasonable course of action.

Forcing TSP = Bad

Let's not sign it. We have enough internal troubles as is.

Alright. I more or less just told them as much. Initially I would have been willing to go with it, but since Uni was willing to show TSP the door, we're going to take a stand on it. I told that I was Article V 3 struck from the treaty or they can continue discussions without us.

Ugh. So it's been pointed out that apparently I'm being unreasonable here.

The protocols will all have to be passed by each region to take effect. As such, I asked if we can strike Article 3.3 of the Thebes protocol. Is there anything else we need to worry about?

Since I'm apparently a shitty diplomat, Kris will be handling everything regarding this.

I highly doubt you were being a shitty diplomat. Sometimes it's hard to get through to some when they believe their answer is the best. I bet you were doing a fantastic job protecting the ideals of TSPers.

That said, I don't think there's anything else to worry about.

I am posting with permission from Tsu.

We have concluded negotiations on both the Parthenon and the Thebes Protocol, and urge the Cabinet to submit it to the Assembly. I have expressed our concerns to the other representatives and I think that we have a decent draft that should be passed. I will try to address two of the past and potential concerns:
  • Due to some unfortunate miscommunication, we believed that the Parthenon would force us to sign any future protocols that other signatories chose to pass, therefore violating our sovereignty. What the Parthenon actually says is that all signatories must ratify a protocol for it to be legally enforceable, meaning that the particular provision is actually guarding our sovereignty, since no protocol would be enacted unless all signatories consent to it.
  • We also had concerns about section 3.3 of the Thebes Protocol, which mandated that signatories exert diplomatic pressure on regions that have no recognized the PRL as the legitimate government of Lazarus. We were explained what was meant by 'diplomatic pressure' but believed that there was some ambiguity to it that could lead to various interpretations by the different signatories. Those concerns were expressed at the Conference, and the relevant section has been stricken.
I think this is an opportunity that should not be missed, especially since the Thebes Protocol is directly relevant to the common efforts to liberate Lazarus. It is also worth pointing out that both treaties have been submitted to the North Pacific Regional Assembly and the Osiris Deshret already. Should the Cabinet have any further concerns, I would be happy to address them in here.

Well, if that was all of our problems, I think it looks good.

I'm in with proposing this to the Assembly.

Who do we want to pitch it to the Assembly?
