If you've been in the loop about Bels' campaigns for the the past year, you know he simply wants to obliterate all public media and is proposing an amendment to do so because he now has an electoral mandate for it. He's not going to be interested in some sort of "moving it around" proposal.

If you disagree with that, you're free to vote against it. I'm still a bit undecided on whether I'll vote against or abstain. But the argument "Media's functions should be offloaded somewhere" is not a compromise to Belschaft's proposal. It's the opposite of it.

I'll also say I disagree with a "move it around" proposal. There's little difference between having a Media Ministry and an Appointed-TSJ-Officer or Moved-to-Engagement/Culture option in terms of the issues Media has faced in the past

Honestly, who cares about what Bel wants? The idea of like "it's his proposal, vote yes or no" is ridiculous; the Assembly doesn't have to listen to someone who has railed against this position since its inception.

The idea that someone can just start a private newspaper shows a complete lack for how this community has worked recently. In the past, basically someone would volunteer for the SPINN or whatever and the delegate (or someone in charge) would let them take it over. However, that's not how things work in the region anymore. The administrators aren't just start random forums if someone decides they want to start up a newspaper.

Ultimately, if the MoM goes without a wind-down plan, it — and everything else is gone. Bel has just said as much as he's willing to the all the dispatches from MoM CTE.

Writing a clause like "The Cabinet is allowed to appoint an editor of the Southern Journal or other official news outlet as they need see fit" would suffice to give someone power to establish a media organization in the future.

If this proposal goes through, I would encourage the PM or the Cabinet to find a way to archive the in-game dispatches.

Maybe they should start doing so.

Just to note here, I've got TSP Minister of Media on my autologin and I've been running it every week to make sure that it continues to, you know, exist with all of my other puppets.

I'll not be taking it off my autologin unless the Prime Minister or the Minister of Media tells me to do so.

Just for the record, in case this is a concern you and others have, this is not quite true. Even if a nation ceases to exist its dispatches remain on the site. You can use this page to search the dispatches of former nations.

While, broadly, I'd say the admin team shouldn't be in charge of doing such things, I'll leave this open to the rest of the admin team to address.

They say Belschaft is yielding his power and stepping away. I wasn’t aware that was something a person could do.
