Updated forum structure and guides? |
This looks very sensible to me and the generic names put to make it easier for newcomers to understand.
To be honest, the current theme, as well as being inscrutable to newbies, is kinda infantilsing. (08-18-2019, 01:14 AM)Qvait Wrote: I like it. Should we go ahead and implement it?
I'm not opposed, though maybe consider giving Facts subforums for the future?
I don't think moving old threads is necessary but for future threads, it could help reduce clutter a bit. There's so many different topics there, it would help if future/important threads were sorted. A subforum for surveys and such (maybe also the Conlang relay) maybe?
I have written a first draft for an updated newcomer guide. It's an edit of Kringle's original guide with some additions of my own. The document is open for everyone to edit, so please feel free to add your own suggestions and correct any mistakes.

I'm thinking about writing a guide for developing news articles. Thoughts?
Yes, please!
Anyone else who'd like to help with the newcomer guide?

Now that I see it in action, I think that "Sci-Fi" and "Fantasy" should be subforums of Treasure Island and considered a separate canon. "Sci-Fi" should be called "Section Map A1-0" based on the name of the system. The canon of Fantasy still has yet to develop, so I think the name should remain that way until such time that we have a name for it. With respect to "Main Canon", I think that the subforum should be called "Pacifica" based on the name of the world. Most of these ideas were borrowed from TNP, who have four different canons.
I’d rather keep the names generic. It’s entirely possible that names or circumstances may change, and subforum names shouldn’t be so specific. Might I propose less specific names, like MT Canon, FT Canon, or something along those lines?
