"We played much better than last year I would say, but we still need to focus on our goals. We still lost to a rather unexperienced team, a team participating for the very first time in history in the FWC - which of course also has advantages for them morality-wise - and of course we can't be entirely content with this performance. We will see a better performance against Tribekistan hopefull", the coach of the women's national team of GI-Land, Sonja Lautberg, said to reporters in the press conference after the 3-5 loss against Pax Dracon.
The same hopes come from Snolland, who were only able to play a tie in their match against the archenemy of Hazelbrust.
Matchday 2
Group A:
Home Away
SOR 0-1 PEH
RDC 3-0 TAN
Miki Fushimi (MF): The Sorbakians certainly set up an impressive defense against the Peonic players. With attempt to wear down the players, a strategy that seemed to be popular in the Women's matches in the FWC. However with only five minutes on the clock, that corner kick was the last nail to the coffin.
Frank Lucca (FL): It was certainly a stressful and anticipating match, had it not been for number 21st's last minute heading for a score, the score definitely secured Huawan to advance in the knockouts. Pressure now mount for the defending champions to secure a position.
MF: The RDC were instrumental in managing a victory over the Tanisians in the second match.
FL: We see a magnificent hat-trick by the RDC strikers in this match, and one can say that a switch in their strategies since last match for a heavier offensive certainly paid off.
MF: It is a tremendous match indeed, and while Huawan has secured a position for the next round, Both Tanis and Sorbrakia are able to take the second position from the RDC by gaining a win in the next match. If they are able to utilize their momentum, we shall see an excellent turn of events. The next matches are waited in anticipation, truly.
Group B:
Home Away
FIH 4-3 FAU
BZE 2-0 TRS
MF: The FiHami and Fauderland match was certainly a spectacle to watch. Both teams played brilliantly against each other, and tried to tackle each other's defenses. An even 3-3 fight was there, and Fauderland certainly tried to mend their mistake and launch a serious tone in the fight.
FL: A constant offensive by Fauderland was testing, and as the clock ticked the offensive came constantly to the FiHami goal. However a steal, and a longball was all it took. With the Fauderland defense cracked, it was an impressive use of their chances. A strike by number 25 was all it took for FiHami to clench their victory this match.
MF: Their performance in the Football World Championships have made them the underdogs that everyone is cheering for. There is interesting development that may go on in the upcoming matches.
FL: In the Bzerneleg-Trasunnerian match, things were incredibly intense. Bzerneleg mounted a tremendous defensive by Trasunneria, who were trying to capitalize the momentum they had last time.
MF: The turning point came in the second halftime where Bzerneleg suddenly made an all-out offensive to the Trasunnerians. A desperate play to possess the field with anger led to their victory, at the cost of several yellow cards.
FL: Something certainly happened in the Bzerne locker room that made them so pumped for the match. If Bzerneleg could capitalize their win in the upcoming match against Fauderland, they could clench a position alongside Fi-Hami in the upcoming match. Same goes to Trasunneria.
Group C:
Home Away
RIM 4-0 SNO
VAL 2-4 HZB
FL: The Royal Stadium was home to many emotional and tear-jerking matches, I remember when I played in the stadium for a friendly match versus Lotus F.C
MF: An excellent performance by RIM over Snolland, who managed to safeguard a position in the upcoming round. It was a coordinated blitzkrieg for the RIM performance, and they steamrolled Snolland to cruise into victory.
FL: Snolland provided an excellent defensive position in this match, however it was not enough to stop the RIM advance. Snolland would have to revisit their strategy if it would like a chance in advancing to the knockouts
MF: It was a sad day for Valkyrian fans as the women's dream of winning the 2019 female's Football World Cup is extinguished dearly. Trailing over four points behind the second qualifier, Hazelbrust. The Valkyrians gave this match their all, and played rather brilliantly.
FL: Valkyria and Hazelbrust both reached a draw score in the start of the second half, but Hazelbrust took two more goals against Valkyria in the last minute. With inability to equalize the scores, the fans teared as Valkyria submitted their defeat in flames
MF: Valkyria's position could not be salvaged, although they are in a great position to bring down Snolland with them. Valkyria is the only thing standing between Snolland and winning the Women's FWC cup. Nevertheless there is going to be some critical plays coming soon
Group D:
Home Away
PXD 0-5 KFA
TRI 0-0 GIL
FL: Kai Fa certainly rose from the ashes this time
MF: With a five score lead from Pax Dracon and leaving them to the dust. Kai Fa certainly cemented a great position for the next match, giving themselves enough capability to advance to the next match. What do you think happened in that match?
FL: There was spirit in the last game between Pax Dracon and Gi-Land, and it was certainly a magnificent bout to behold. Unfortunately we don't see much of the same spirit in this game, coupled with an excited opponent to settle the scores, made them lose the game in such a matter.
MF: Tribekistan and Gi-Land also provided a great game to play. Gi-Land tried greatly to break through Tribekistan's defences, trying to shoot for the goal a large amount of times with much finer coordination from the last match.
FL: However Tribekistan amounted a great enough defense to shroud off Gi-Land's advances. Their delegation tried to wear down Gi-Land, and they tried to score. Unfortunately it is not easy breaking through Gi-Land's defences. So while they are going in the correct direction, it was not enough for Gi-Land to amount a win like its group mates. If it were to expect to advance in the knockout rounds, it must clech a win in the next bout.
Group E:
Home Away
BRM 0-9 SED
TKR 0-0 REB
MF: One of the most astounding matches in Sedunnic history, and in the Football World Championships.
FL: A complete annihilation of Bruuma's women's team with an astonishing 9 score lead over them. The landslide victory led many to ask if it was the biggest victory seen in professional football on these lands
MF: Some analysts say that the Bruumans did not set up a stronger defense like it did against Rebeltopia in the last match, others say that the reason Bruuma lost was that they simply repeated what worked as a defensive. Which may led to their downfall, as Sedunn were fully aware of their strategies in the last match. Brumma would have to revisit their strategy again if they were to try and qualify for the knockoffs.
FL: There is tension between Rebeltopia and Tekarai today. We see nearly the exact same thing in the Rebeltopian's last match with Bruuma. There was simply not enough to amount a great offensive
MF: The possession was solely credited to Tekarai, had it not been tremendous saves by the Rebeltopian goalkeeper, the draw that we see this match may turn out differently. While Rebeltopia's draw gave them an edge over its opponents, a win is really needed in the next bout if they were to hope to join Sedunn in the knockoffs
Group F:
Home Away
UBI 3-4 IFF
POL 5-0 PPO
FL: We see that the Frost Federation pulled no stops against its foes in today's match, and it was reciprocated by Ubesii as well. By halftime both teams scored an even 3-3.
MF: Frost was basically playing in their home ground in this climate, and did amount a tremendous performance. Ubesii performed rather spectacularly in this match as well, an amounted an even defensive and an offensive against Frost players
FL: The second half had Ubesii desperately trying to gain possession against Frost, and while Frost gained deep momentum against Ubesii, the Ubesii-an defences are a force to be reckoned with. The match went on in a tug of war fashion
MF: Had it not for number 17's strike to get out from the equal score, the match would end in a bitter draw.
FL: Meanwhile, it seems that Poleande finally found its groove, and attaining a 5-0 lead against Puerto Pollo. It seemed that a new strategy by Polenade managed to attain victory over the Puerto Pollo. The match was a blow for Puerto Pollo, tears rain as yet another country's wishes to win the Football World Cup is diminished once more
MF: We see a really aggressive point in Poleande this match, and it is certainly something interesting to behold. They changed their strategies as time continued, and made sure the opponent could not adapt towards their plans. Puerto Pollo weren't able to adapt to the field, and caused a massive defeat.
FL: Even if Puerto Pollo won the upcoming match against the Frost Federation, a draw between Poleande and Ubesii would block the team from advancing to the next match. However, if Puerto Pollo won against Frost, it would be a humiliating defeat for the powerhouse in group F.
Summary
FL: With two countries wishes of advancing to the next knockoffs diminished, it leaves over 22 countries to fight for the bout. The standings for some groups are clear enough, while others are not. If teams were to expect to advance in the knockoffs, they must capitalize any chance they have in the upcoming match. The third match shall be something interesting indeed.

Same Score, Different Match
Rebeltopia again played to a 0-0 score, but this time against Tekarai. And again, the story-line was all defense, and little offense.
"The defense played very well, and the times Tekarai got past, the goalie did her job," Coach Jill Jefferson said after the game. "The offense, on the other hand, really played terrible. We'll be in the hotel watching a lot of video tonight." When asked about needing a win to advance, Jefferson replied "Scoring goals would help that."

When asked by a reporter after bouncing back from a rather disappointing start in the tournament, Bzerneleg's women's national football team Coach Lisa Budenheim applauded her team's performance by saying this:
"You know, football is a game of ups and downs, therefore you will find times when you're not performing at your best. It's not a good thing of course, but certainly not something fans and spectators should use to criticize our players. That's a part of sports.
After a loss in the first match, we continued to keep our heads up and constantly reminded ourselves that the mission's not over. We are still in this, we're not going anywhere, and we need everybody to stay committed. And so that was what we did today. We came out of the hall and onto the field with a warrior spirit. Our girls feared nobody and nothing. I'm very glad that they pushed themselves to do their best and I am making sure that this momentum and mentality is maintained throughout the next few days and hopefully, the entire tournament.
Overall, the players have trust in me and I place full trust in them to go out there and win. So today, ladies, you totally deserve a good rest and let's work even harder to win our next match and move on further into the tournament!"
"Wow what a close game, the defense was great but our offence needs to be stronger. If we can get a couple goals in the first half, we can then switch to a more defensive tactic and shut down the other team by tiring them out and getting the ball out to drain the clock." Natalka Vošenskev, Head Coach of the Sorbkraia Women National Football Team.
"Our national pride and football is decent enough, but Haniweb needs better servers..."
Is the only comment recieved from FiHami's women's team today thanks to the massive Haniweb crash, which still hasn't come back online.

Scoring six goals against Bruuma, Sedunnic centre forward Ati Botnienn was finally able to beat Vimmru Loksienn's old record, 62 goals (men's national team). The new record is 64 goals. Botnienn has said that the FWC19 will be her last tournament.
"Is this evidence enough that women too play great football?" she asked rhetorically after the match.

The Football World Championship group stages are to draw in a close, and it will be the deciding factor of the advancements. Analysts predict that the result are straightforward and "predictable"

Matchday 3, Group Finals
Group A:
Home Away
PEH 5-2 TAN
SOR 4-2 RDC
Miki Fushimi (MF): It was an uphill battle for the Tanisians, in an attempt to claw some scores in the first half, they pursued as many scores as possible. Penetrating the mixed defensive position that Huawan has cultivated in the two earlier matches, and scored goals ahead of the Peocracy with a 0-2 lead.
Frank Lucca (FL): [i]But we see a spectacle in the end Miki, after the break the Peonic players were pumped and geared for action. Whatever happened in the locker room, it certainly gave the women their edge to regroup and take back their lead. A strong and cunning strike was all it took to break the Tanisians, punishing their lead with a 5-3 ending.
MF: Observers see that the first half was a lax and under performing Peonic team, and while they rose back to win the match, the Peonic team could not afford such luxuries in this leg of the game. Something that Head Coach Song drilled into their heads
FL: Sorbakia managed to clench a win against RDC and ultimately placing themselves in a tie in the standings.
MF: We see an incredibly tense match, as in order for the RDC to assure its standings to advance in the knockoffs, it must gain a win against Sorbakia. With a lower Goal Difference, a win is the only way for them to advance. The first half was an aggressive all-out fight against the Sorbakian defensive, and with a surprise attack, they were caught off guard to soon.
KL: Sorbakia tried its best to regain a point but was ultimately brought down once more by the RDC. On the second half however, we see a changed outlook in the match. As the RDC tried to maintained the current scores, one woman, number 17, did an amazing hat trick against the RDC. Bringing Sorbakia not one, but two points ahead of RDC
MF: And with the time ending, Sorbakia took the second place from the RDC and shall be joining Huawan in the knockoff rounds!
Group B:
Home Away
FAU 0-1 BZE
TRS 6-1 FIH
MF: Fauderland rose up its feet and proved itself a formidable opponent against Bzerneleg. It amounted a strong defensive position and a great offensive capability against Bzerneleg. The first half was comprised of a never ending and coordinated offensive towards Bzerneleg.
FL: However upon entry of the second match, the Bzerne players were keen to rise from the draw. A counter-offensive was started, and a complete overhaul of the team's defenses and formation was done by coach Budenheim. It certainly turned the tables around and proving most wrong of the outcome of the match, Bzerneleg clenched its win and defended it greatly against Fauderland and secured its spot to advance.
MF: Meanwhile there was an emotional match playing in the Trasunnerian-FiHami match.
FL: Yes, it seems that the flying underdog would have to be grounded for a while. As Trasunneria severely punished the group favorite with a whopping 6-1 lead against them. It was an unbelievable result when Trasunneria clenched a marginal victory over their opponents, a unanimously predicted FiHami victory was doused dearly, along with their hopes of advancing to the finals.
MF: Although both Fi-Hami and Trasunneria were neck-a-neck alongside Bzerneleg in the standings, Trasunneria were trailing points behind FiHami and Bzerneleg to gain a spot in the advancing finals. Their only option were to score, and score hard. So after an initial scoring by FiHami, a fired Trasunnerian team severely punished the FiHami defensive and pushed their possession to an amazing 69% possession against FiHami.
FL: Analysts are baffled, even myself. There is one thing that we all agree about, is that even though Trasunneria were fighting an all-out battle, FiHami's performance this match were severely underdeveloped and poor. Some would credit their lacking performance from overconfidence, which resulted in their demise and their defeat, as tears rain on the Liang Great Stadium at Hai Lan that night. Their performance was respectable, and fans wished them luck on the next womens FWC
Group C:
Home Away
SNO 0-4 VAL
HZB 0-3 RIM
FL: Valkyria lost the war, but it wasn't going down without a fight.
MF: What was predicted to be a landslide victory for Snolland was impeded by the presence of Valkyrian players. After riots in Valkyria erupted due to the premature defeat of the team, Valkyria weren't going to go down without a hostage. A spirited and more coordinated play by Valkyria brought a once weeping field into a cheering one filled with hope for a new start
FL: Valkyria did not pull their stops, and acted tremendously. This game had passion and strategy, it is a good performance that they gave us, and certainly one that would be remembered as a reincarnation to a new Valkyrian team spirit. Some experts believe that if such spirits were to continue, they would've been the feared team in the group
MF: Snolland got brought down with Valkyria, simultaneously taking third in the group standings. Leaving Hazelbrust and Republic of Reizen to fight an all out match to find out the one that shall take the standings.
FL: The Republic of Reizen were a powerhouse in the past matches, and Hazelbrust did nothing but increased the pressure on them. While the Republic gained a victory, it was not achieved easily, Hazelbrust's defence and total delegation of players had severely weaken the Republic's morales, and with it their performance in the second match
MF: RIM were instrumental in the second match, and finally got out from the equalizer with a 3-0 lead over Hazelbrust. Making them the top performing team in the group matches, with over 10 points in goal difference. No one has made a goal in their net, with many people quoting them invincible as well as the group favorites, but we might see that there is opportunity for it to happen.
Group D:
Home Away
KFA 3-3 GIL
PXD 0-0 TRI
FL: Something interesting brewed in group D, with both matches ending in a draw
MF: Gi-Land's match against Kai Fa was certainly an interesting one to see, a whole new strategy and even finer teamwork than last time. The team certainly did their homework to try and improve from their mistakes. Kai Fa was not an opponent to be underestimated, and reciprocated the pressure towards Gi-Land
FL: A tug of war game was one that was seen between the two, each scoring one after the other. It was until the last minute that Gi-Land tried to score, and it did enter the net.
MF: However the inquiry by the Referee was made, and after deliberations as well as analysis using the V.A.R system, it was agreed that the goal by Gi-Land was void, as it had already crossed the allocated time for the match by over thirty seconds in play. With it, Gi-Land's wishes of advancing to the next match was burnt that day. Nevertheless the players held their heads high, as it was truly a tremendous match against Kai-Fa that night.
FL: We see the same thing happening in the Pax Dracon and Tribekistan match, both trying to clench for a win against the other. But as we see in most of the matches this year, both had got an impenetrable defense and a weak offense.
MF: Unfortunately the match ended in a stalemate as Pax Dracon and Tribekistan were not able to score against their respective opponent's goals, and despite a continuous change in strategies, the time was not enough to finally end the match with a winner.
FL: With both Kai-Fa and Pax Dracon unable to advance ahead of each other in the standings, the goal difference was in play, and Kai-Fa's performance in the second matchday gave an amazing edge in their scoring against Pax Dracon, and Kai-Fa advanced to the knockoffs alongside Tribekistan.
Group E:
Home Away
REB 2-1 SED
BRM 0-0 TKR
MF: Finally a change in luck, where Rebeltopia clenched its first victory in the 2019 FWC against group favorite, Sedunn
FL: A score was made by number 7 of the Rebeltopian team, and it's as if a curse has finally been lifted from the Rebeltopian team. A spirit that finally showed the stadium the true power. An all out offensive was made by Sedunn, and the Rebeltopian defensive finally paid off.
MF: While the second half of the match certainly gave Sedunn an equalizer, the Rebeltopian team launched a full attack on the Sedunnic defensive, flanking every side with coordination and proper delegation. Leading to a score that brought them a win for the game.
FL: They now have a momentum when they advance in the knockoffs, alongside Sedunn.
MF: As for the Bruuma-Tekarai match, it ended in a stalemate. However each mounted rather severe offensives against the other, and at multiple times had gotten a large opening.
FL: It is unfortunate that while the game went out amazingly, there was not enough momentum for either team to go over the other. With it, both their wishes of advancing to the knockoffs burnt to dust. If Bruuma and Tekarai must revisit their strategies once more if they wish to perform better in next year.
Group F:
Home Away
IFF 5-9 PPO
POL 0-2 UBI
FL: Arguably one of the most dramatic and greatest matches in FWC history. A bloody all-out war for possession and scores between Frost and Puerto Pollo, with Puerto Pollo receiving the pleasure to completely destroy the Frost team.
MF: A lot of analysts and experts see a Frost victory incredibly possible against Puerto Pollo, they were the powerhouses of the group and the ones that were most capable of withstanding the cold. Against Puerto Pollo, who had the most trouble with the climate in the Asahi Winter Complex, as evident in performances prior.
FL: However possibility for a Frost victory were severely doused, shortly after the fifth goal, a new spirit entered the players of Puerto Pollo, and nearing the first half had already scored two more goals against the Frost federation.
MF: It seemed that weaknesses are always subject to adaptation, and the players of Puerto Pollo steamrolled the Frost defensive and equalizing before nearing the end of the second half. It was a spectacular show of showmanship and coordination for Puerto Pollo against the Frost players.
FL: But it didn't stop there, Puerto Pollo were on a roll, and in an instant took over possession of the ball and control of the field. The Frost players were severely overwhelmed and marginally demoralized on the field, the players of Puerto Pollo scored again, and again. Increasing the score difference by four points, and ultimately bringing the Frost players to the second standing below the Ubesiians.
MF: While the Frost Players won the war, many see this match as an outright humiliation of the Frost women's football team, and one that may be remembered for quite some time.
FL: [i]In other news, Ubesii got an edge over Poleande players. A two point lead in the second half was a not an easy task. Poleande were severely capitalizing on their win in the last match, and started strong. While Ubesii's defenses broke multiple times, their goalkeeper was certainly playing their best.
MF: [i]Her performance was an incredible one, as Polenade tried to shoot four times, the goalkeeper did the same amount protecting the goal. An intense battle went on to the second half, and Ubesii gave a stronger advance that time. Two goals were scored that day against Poleande by number 11. Poleande did well trying to go on the defensive and seek an equalizer, but fate was written as the time ended.
FL: Ubesii took the first place in group standings from Frost and would join them in advancing to the knockoffs from group F.
Summary
MF: Predictions are predictions, and in the end they only predict a possibility. As such there is nothing as certainty in predicting the outcome of a football game, and that is what we saw in the third matchday. Blood were drawn and over 12 out of 24 countries would advance in the knockoffs, the shuffle shall be announced at a later date, and the stakes are higher now.

REPORTER: Coach Budenheim, since your first match of the tournament, we've seen a transformation in the team's performance and results. What is the key to such transformation?
COACH BUDENHEIM: Mentality. Mentality. Mentality. Do we know for sure that we are the best team in this year's championship? No. There are great players in every team, including us, and they have the potential to do something big. So, we've focused on making sure that our players are mentally and physically ready to go out there and win.
We're certainly not the best team in the championship, but I can claim that we have one of the, if not, most dedicated and passionate players and staff. Our goal is to go beyond where we got to last year, which is the quarter finals. And you know what? We're there already.
Rebeltopia is a hard opponent indeed. They are a strong and solid team. Managed to beat last year's finalist in a very close game. So you know, we'll be watching and analyzing their team. We are confident and ready to do whatever it takes to move further into the championship.
