  Burn it all

Today I had an epiphany that we need to tear everything up. This watered down GC that we made to please Roavin is not going to accomplish anything substantial over its entire lifespan if we keep at this rate. We need to burn it all. We have serious problems in TSP that are just never going to be addressed. Right now we are only 2 months into the GC, but we will be 6 months in before you know it and we are going to have accomplished nothing.

We don't have to replace every law. We don't have to rip up every single part of the Charter. But if we want to create a better TSP for the people who will eventually take our places in this region then we need to work to that instead of having the only thing we accomplished here be some minor reform to ministry names.

Let's do it. For a better TSP.

According to the Legislator Committee Act, in order to keep their legislator status, legislators must have voted in at least half of all votes in each month (given that there were at least two votes in that month), as well as maintain a nation in the South Pacific. Since 4 votes finished this month, legislators needed to have voted in at least 2 of them to keep their status.

The list of legislators whom the Chair recommends the Legislator Committee to revoke the legislator statuses of is in the table below. If your legislator status has been revoked, you can always reapply. You can also find the legislator roster for this month attached at the bottom of this post.

Greetings friends and allies,

I am pleased to provide our August update, containing information about the ongoing Great Council, other Legislative changes, leadership elections, and more.

New Minister of Culture Elected

Following the vacancy left by former Minister rosaferri, Election Commissioner Kringle oversaw a special election. Four candidates participated in this election: Comfed, former Minister of Culture Murelia, former Ministry of Regional Affairs staffer ProfessorHenn, and The Lile Ulie Islands (Maluhia). After eliminating Comfed and Murelia, Lile Ulie Islands was victorious over ProfessorHenn in the fourth round of voting by only 2 votes. Lile Ulie Islands was elected on a platform of working with the reigon's role play community and the Local Council. The winning platform can be found here and the results can be found here.

SPSF Activity Continues

The South Pacific Special Forces continued to operate under Minister of Defense Pronoun's sterling leadership. Monthly updates were issued for both July and August. The SPSF was also an active participant in the liberation attempts on Realm of the Whispering Winds, with 23 total updaters under an SPSF banner. The SPSF also welcomed five new recruits in August.

Carnival of Celebrations Held

The South Pacific hosted Percy Jackson & The Carnival of Celebrations alongside co-hosts 10000 Islands, Balder, The East Pacific, and The Order of the Grey Wardens, all of which are treatied partners of the Coalition. We were delighted to share this fun experience with our allies and look forward to future events. A recap of the event schedule can be found here.

New Treaties Ratified

During the month of August, two new treaties were fully signed, sealed, and ratified.

First, the Coalition signed the Fellowship of Llamas and Eagles with its recent defender partners in The League. The League and the South Pacific share defender values and have an extensive history of working together militarily. The announcement can be found here.

Second, the South Pacific signed the Pact of Orohena with Europeia. Europeia and the South Pacific previously held strong diplomatic relations, but these were soured due to diverging military alignments. Recent shifts in Europeia's military engagements and the formalized Defender alignment of the South Pacific have made stronger bilateral relations feasible once again. The announcement can be found here.

New Delegate Brings New Initiatives; New LC

Delegate Tepertopia (anjo) formally assumed the in-game Delegacy of the South Pacific on July 28. The South Pacific was proud to conduct this Delegate transition in only six days and without the assistance of foreign piler forces. Since assuming office, Delegate Tepertopia brought back the practice of publishing a Delegate's briefing and expanded it to include RMB Awards. The Delegate also conducted a September edition of Endorsement Days. Tepertopia also retains their position as Director of the Office of WA Legislation.

Also on the NationStates site, elections for Local Council concluded on July 25 with the election of Curlyhoward, Trivalve, and The free romanians as Local Councillors. More election information can be found here.

Changes in Culture

With the inauguration of a new Minister comes a flurry of activity. Minister of Culture Mulahia has already announced and begun work on the Mauna Kea Banjection Contest hosted via a NationStates side region and is working with RP Moderator Gianni to change the regional map rules to permit better use of the map for role playing. We look forward to seeing what more the new Minister can accomplish!

Great Council In Progress

The Great Council, an effort to rewrite the laws of the Coalition, remains in progress. A proposal has already been voted on to replace the Local Council with a team of appointed RMB Moderators and events run by the Ministry of Culture and proposals to change the elections process of the Delegate. Further proposals are under discussion regarding the High Court, the office of the Chair of the Assembly, and the process for selecting the Cabinet. The full Great Council forum can be found here.

Miscellaneous Other Items
  • Following nomination by the Cabinet in consultation with the Legislator Committee, Moon/Emodea was appointed and then confirmed to the Legislator Committee. The debate thread can be found here.
  • Prime Minister Jay compiled and published the Sunshine releases from the June to October 2021 (Witchcraft & Sorcery) and October 2021 to February 2022 (HumanSanity I) Cabinets. The full release can be found here.
  • Regular elections for the Chair of the Assembly are currently ongoing. Currently, only the incumbent Chair The Haughterlands/Cryo is running. The campaign forum can be found here.
  • The planned move to the "Discourse" forum software is still in-progress with a yet to be announced launch date.

Yes. You read that right. It's true. I ate pie. I know, I know, but I swear it looked like cake! I assume this was some sort of sabotage to my character. If elected, whoever is responsible for this disgraceful party trick will be removed pronto to the Office Floor of the Assembly Building. Trust me, not a fun place to be in.

Anyways, I'm running for re-election or something.

I've greatly enjoyed being your Chair for the last four five or so months (longest Chair term anyone?). And despite the hiccups, which I plan to learn and continue off from, I hope to be your overlord for the next four months. To start off with my plans:

Continue my projects where they left off

This includes the Weekly Updates, Chair's Briefings, and the Gazette, plus the others.

Increase activity

I didn't do much on this last term, but I will try to tackle it this time around. I plan to begin reminding legislators of votes, and trying to scout for new legislators on the RMB (if any).

Involvement

I enjoy having deputies to party all night with, but they also are helpful in other ways. I'm open to accepting and training Deputies, who will probably be allocated a list of chores to do, and maybe rotate them around so they can gauge an idea of what the position of the Chair asks for.

Banning pie

You heard me. No pie allowed on Assembly premises. I see you @Penguin, you better hurry up and finish that pie. And free cake and ice cream hand-outs for all!

Question [IC] [POLL] Market Crash Investigation

Subject: Investigative Police Officer Takesif Lekuriti
Object: The Black Market Crash, Tamirs' Disappearance & The Events of August
Laying out all known information during the night, he's followed the sequence of events in chronological order. In private, every note taken has been thoroughly investigated by this officer, who refused to just "let go" of the situation after Decree #6 and the Battle of Mt. Hope. Finally, checking through the General Database this morning, he's found that "a citizen of Associated Clans of Viliakmon has migrated from the Government Island to Emerald (12 hours)".
Furthermore, the Database revealed the citizen to be Mikhail Lishnikoff, who was sent to Government Island together with Lenko Panteliev as "Representative-Informant" with no powers actually delegated to either. Knowing who Lishnikoff was, the Investigator became even more suspicious - he's been there for almost a full month after the Conference concluded all the while everything else was going on. Searching for "Lenko Panteliev" the Database would prompt an error saying "Subject Does Not Exist", the archives saying "No Records of Subject Ever Existing". It appears he's reached a Dead End without asking someone for further information.

  • Agent Avramovitzch: he recommended them, wasn't allied to Blyutanov. Leads to: "The Security Rabbit Hole" Reveal and Event Chain + MSS faction grows
  • Minister Barletty: he fought with them on Mt. Hope. Leads to: "Ruby Denver" Reveal and Event Chain + V.A.F. faction grows
  • Founder Iakov Xhuglini: he should have all the information. Leads to: "The CobWeb" Reveal and Chain of Events
  • Head of the Lishnikoff Clan, Boss Nicolas. Leads to: "Familial Familiarity" Reveal and Chain of Events
  • Wait for further information. Leads to: Contacted by "a T.C.P. journalist" Reveal + (a certain faction) grows.
Here is where he will decide.
Apparently, he's on a time limit and must decide before "GMT-NST Noon, 6th September". He also has to first wake up, about an hour and a half from now, to re-assess his choices
