[COMMUNICATION] State of the Assembly November 2020

State of the Assembly November 2020

Legislators,

With November behind, we only have one more month left until 2020 is over. While there wasn’t much happening at the beginning of the month, the end of the month saw a lot more activity, including three proposals motioned to vote within two days. In this month, I also created the Ideas to Work On in the Assembly thread.

Votes

We had five votes this month, resulting in several changes for the region. The amendment to the Legislator Committee Act allowed for between three and five members on the Legislator Committee. The amendment to the Charter regarding the approval votes of CRS nominations raised the threshold to a three-fifths majority. The amendment to the Regional Officers Act clarified that non-Prime Minister Cabinet ministers could get up to three Regional Officer spots. Finally, the amendment to the Elections Act prohibits ballots cast in forum-based elections from being altered after they are cast.

Legislator Check

According to the Legislator Committee Act, in order to keep their legislator status, legislators must vote in at least half of the votes in each month (given that there were at least two votes in that month), as well as maintain a nation in the South Pacific. Since there were five votes this month, legislators had to have voted in at least three in order to maintain legislator status.

The list of legislators whom the Chair recommends the Legislator Committee to revoke the legislator statuses of is in the table below. If your legislator status has been revoked, you can always reapply. You can also find the legislator roster for this month attached at the bottom of this post.

As there are many members whose legislator status should have been revoked in previous months but were not, additional members who should have their legislator masks on Discord or the forums removed are listed below. The link in the “Reason” column links to the State of the Assembly whose legislator check that should have removed them (if there is one), and the “Notes” column states on which platform(s) the legislator mask needs to be removed.

*The nation has no longer CTEd, but was at the time of the legislator check
**It’s unclear they were originally having their status revoked for, but this past month they have not voted on any bills, so they have not met the past month’s voting requirement.
***They had missed every vote for several months, so they technically should have been removed before, but due to the fact that they weren’t on the legislator roster, they were never removed.

Note: all of the members in the table above have failed voting requirements this month. However, the reason I’m listing in the “Reason” column is the reason that they were originally removed for, though those reasons aren’t exclusive to failing voting requirements as well.

New Legislators

Welcome to our new or returning legislators this month!

The Legislator Committee has performed the removals as recommended by the Chair. As always, we thank Chairwoman Purple Hyacinth for the excellent cooperation!
